What I was wondering is, how can Sam Smith claim to be openly gay and non-binary at the same time? Surely, if you don't have a gender, then you can't be classed as gay or straight. Then isn't claiming to be non-binary thought to be dis-loyal and doing a disservice to the progress that's been made in the general acceptance of homosexuality?

It’s pretty standard to refer to ‘fishers’. C. 99% of fishers in the UK aware men, but it’s still totally standard to refer to them as fishers. You see it in government reports etc.

As much as I like ‘them’ as a singer, I do think ‘they’ are just taking the pee out of everyone, sitting back laughing and counting ‘their’ money, it’s a different way to stay relevant, attract the alternatives and give us all a laugh at the same time.
Personally I wanna thank ‘them’, the ridiculous red carpet outfit and ‘Fisherthem’ comment had me howling.. and in this current climate, don’t we all need a laugh? So I wanna say thank you Sam and keep em coming!

I have to admit, like another poster, I hadn't really heard of Sam Smith until very recently. I am a bit stuck in the 80's with my music choices. However I do listen to radio 2, so have heard his music but not really associated with his name. I actually found his "I'm not here to make friends" quite a nice, catchy earworm. Then, after a thread on here, I went and Googled the video. And now I'm sad because every time I hear the good tune, I see the bad video in my mind's eye! And suddenly I hear about him and his opinions everywhere and not in a good way.

For a while, I was getting him confused with Sam Ryder and was so disappointed in this new direction he was heading and his new, bloated look. Sorry Sam Ryder, you are still as lovely, sweet and humble as you were before! 😬

I recently felt sorry for him as I thought he was being manipulated by his management but after seeing that clip and him referring to himself as a fisherthem and laughing about it, he's just having a laugh . It cracked me up .
