Sam Smith of course and his latest ridiculousness! Don't we already have non gender words for this? ie angler, fisher etc. even fisherperson would sound normal.

He's a bit of a knowb but his music is great. He's won loads of awards I'm surprised anyone hasn't heard of him. He was crying on his doorstep in lockdown he missed the spotlight so much.

I may be missing the point here, but isn't 'fisherman' (or 'fisherwoman') usually understood to refer to somebody who catches large amounts of fish every day for resale for a living?

Isn't it normally 'angler' or 'going fishing' for somebody doing it for a hobby - be they a pop star by trade or a shelf stacker in Tesco? Kind of like describing yourself as a 'joiner', because you once assembled a Billy bookcase from IKEA?!

Big difference between fishermen who go out to sea to catch your fish supper and a angler who fishes on a river or lake for fish. And if they do go out on a boat to fish it is known as Sea angling.

Sam Smith had a really good career. Then he won the Oscar and made himself look like a tit with his speech and everyone was cringing with embarrassment. After that he released music but no one was really interested so he was going to have to do something bold to get noticed again. However he’s probably gone slightly too far! I can’t decide if he’s got the best PR people or the worst. He’s definitely got the attention now but hardly any of it is positive. I’m not surprised. He does come over as a complete twat
