What songs make you mad?

My local radio station have started playing What Would You Do? (City High song) a lot. It makes me mad everytime I hear it. It makes me even madder because it sticks in your head.

It's about a man going to a party with strippers. Then finding out one stripper is a single mum forced into prostitution and was sexually abused as a child. He gets all judgy about how she's letting herself and child down. No offers of help or solutions, no criticising the failure of the child's druggy dad, just lots of mysognony and vicgim shaming of her trying to look after her child. Also, he fails to see the irony that he/his friends are enjoying her striping and it's only an issue because he knew her at school. The other strippers are still just meat.

Grrr.

I always get Carly Simon and Chrissie Hind mixed up so I'll add The Pretenders and 2000 miles. Simply for the line and the way she sings "He's gone 2000 miles, it's very far". We'll um, yeah. It's like she felt she needed to add Something in that space but couldn't be bothered.

Disclaimer: it's still better than I could do.

Mad would be an overreaction but Baby One More Time is completely wrong. The lyrics don't fit the music or video, it should be a lot darker and subdued. Some of the more recent covers have been better.

Oh and December 63 by Four Seasons, since I heard it in context in Jersey Boys - I really don't want to hear about you losing your v card to some old woman whose name you didn't know (that's quite Prince Harry now I think of it!)

Wap. It's just shit. It does nothing for female power. It brings us back to base level in quite a male, aggressive way of all we are here for is sex and to have good bodies.
I literally hate it. I hate that people will argue that it's a feminist anthem, or empowering. I hate that young females think this is what to aspire to, being able to go down fully on a man to near on choking level. It's vile.
There are so many better pro female songs that aren't about shagging.

I absolutely can't stand any misogynistic rap that is deemed completely acceptable by BBC radio (while they act completely outraged at other forms of sexism).
On a lighter note I hate Torn & Gangstas bloody Paradise.

Firework by Katy Perry. She clearly struggles with the high notes and you can hear it even in the recording. Dreadful song.

I know artists "grow " and all but I think Pink has become so naff now. I used to love her F you style, beautiful clever lyrics and a bit dark.

I read the take her out for a meal as you need to impress her Dad. Do what you feel is that the family don't have such high expectations of you. Still awful obviously.

Is it the same song where it tells you to get drunk and go for a drive?
