What songs make you mad?

My local radio station have started playing What Would You Do? (City High song) a lot. It makes me mad everytime I hear it. It makes me even madder because it sticks in your head.

It's about a man going to a party with strippers. Then finding out one stripper is a single mum forced into prostitution and was sexually abused as a child. He gets all judgy about how she's letting herself and child down. No offers of help or solutions, no criticising the failure of the child's druggy dad, just lots of mysognony and vicgim shaming of her trying to look after her child. Also, he fails to see the irony that he/his friends are enjoying her striping and it's only an issue because he knew her at school. The other strippers are still just meat.

Grrr.

What songs make you mad but Just. Won't. Die?

Yes, Pink has become a bit too sugary pop.

John Legend "All of Me". The radio gets turned off. Now ExH (then age 31 with a newborn DS) texted the lyrics to a 18 year old and was inviting her around for a meal, telling her that I could walk around the park with DS to give them some space. Ummmm no. Fuck off.

ExtraJalapenos · 15/02/2023 10:32

stormzys vossi bop.
Don't listen to him or any current music to be fair. But the time I heard the lyrics I got so fucking mad. The body shots/facials thing.

cheapskatemum · 15/02/2023 10:33

Centrefold by J Geils Band for similar reasons to OP's hatred of "What would you do?" Except that it's glorifying the fact that a former pupil is now posing nude in a magazine so he & everyone else can perv over her 🤮
DS4 got a major part in the production "Back to the 80s" which has the song in it & a school I taught in also staged this production, so its content is being presented as ok to secondary school aged pupils 🤷🏽‍♀️

SkankingWombat · 15/02/2023 10:46

That awful Robin Thicke song. Until very recently, the local popular mobile DJ would play it at every party he attended. I cannot fathom how he couldn't see it wasn't OK at any disco, but especially so for 5yos!

72 Hookers by NOFX. Usually a big fan on this band, but they are so far wide of the mark with this song. The suggestion is that if we sent prostitutes rather than soldiers to give blowjobs instead of shooting guns, the soldiers on the opposing side would be happy and no longer interested in war. Apparently the aggressors are just sexually frustrated. Yes, it's meant to be silly and sort-of-lighthearted, but... WHY THE FUCK SHOULD WOMEN BE FORCED (or even asked nicely!) TO USE THEIR BODIES FOR SEXUAL FAVOURS TO FIX A SITUATION STARTED AND PERPETUATED ENTIRELY BY MEN???! If you feel that strongly about it as a solution, go suck off the troops yourself.

Millana · 15/02/2023 11:11

Firework by Katie Perry is just her shouting isn't it? On the plus side, I'd probably shout it well at karaoke.

John Legend's All of You is an awful song. Not sure why but it makes me mad.

The Kid LARO without You. I Messed up and you won't forgive me but it's all your fault. Plus "Can't make a wife out of a ho".

Lewis Capaldi andSo Forget Me. So, so selfish.

Coz girls is players too

I literally just leaped across the room stubbing my toe in the process to turn it off. Bloody radio 6 must have it at the top of their progressive play list.

And I don't give a shit if girls (women?) are players or not. IMHO all players are tossers regardless of sex 😆 It's a combo of the bad grammar and blatant butchering of a hip hop classic that enrages me!

Siameasy · 15/02/2023 11:26

I hate Toploader’s Dancing in the Moonlight. It’s just so naff.

'It Wasn't Me'

It does my 'king head in.

harrassedmumto3 · 15/02/2023 11:34

The 'baby it's cold outside' Christmas song. A man trampling all over a woman's boundaries!

It isn't though. She wants to stay, but is wary about what her reputation and what her family will say about it.

Her 'father will be pacing the floor' and her 'maiden aunt's mind is vicious'.
Who sings about 'maiden aunts' anymore?

It's all very 'good girls' keeping themselves 'tidy'.

Whitney Houston - I will always love you

I had my first snog to that song! :) It always makes me cringe a little thinking about it!

GoldenCupidon · 15/02/2023 11:53

Centrefold isn’t from a teacher’s perspective is it? I always assumed they’d been at school together

dramakween · 15/02/2023 11:53

Every Breath You Take - by The Police and covers

A stalker's anthem

Pointynoseowner · 15/02/2023 12:05

Stand by your man Tammy wynette. Loathsome.

Igotmylipstickon · 15/02/2023 12:07

You'll never walk alone
Unchained melody
Sweet Caroline
All cringey

It's not glorifying it - his 'blood runs cold' and his 'memory has just been sold' to discover the classmate he had a longstanding crush on is now in Playboy.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 15/02/2023 12:25

most rap songs (probably whined out by someone with "lil" in their stage name. Running on a theme of drugs fames guns women etc. Hideous. They are all totally indistinguishable from each other.

illtakeit · 15/02/2023 12:26

Unholy - Sam Smith
What's even the point of that "song"??

ughhhh yes. "Never gonna not - DAAAAANCe again." stfu Pink you used to be great. Funhouse was a great album.

I read the take her out for a meal as you need to impress her Dad. Do what you feel is that the family don't have such high expectations of you. Still awful obviously.

Is it the same song where it tells you to get drunk and go for a drive?

Have a drink have a drive go out and see what you can find…. Or something

it was actually used on an anti drink-driving campaign once.

PartridgeInAChair · 15/02/2023 12:28

Annamariefl · 15/02/2023 08:36

you’re gorgeous by baby bird - revolting lyrics, I change radio stations whenever it is played and stay retuned as a protest

Yes, it makes me feel a bit sick.

Phos · 15/02/2023 12:29

I don’t hate the song that much for it but When Will I See You Again by the Three Degrees makes me think of sausages because of the food safety ad where it showed a load of sausages and the caption “sooner than you think if you don’t cook them properly”

PartridgeInAChair · 15/02/2023 12:34

Whitney Houston ''Saving All My Love For You'' - pathetic lyrics.

Quite a few of her songs actually.

IneedcoffeeinanIV · 15/02/2023 12:38

Driving home for Christmas. When I was a teenager I worked in retail (horrid manager so despised the place) and at Christmas it was just a loop of the same songs over and over for my entire shift. Makes my eye twitch even thinking about it
