To think this generic email is misogynistic?

Received this email this afternoon from Ubereats (I’m in Sydney). Glanced at it & was about to ignore then I read the bit about stop relying on horoscopes to find true love. I’m not looking for love so not offended in that respect but honestly who thought this was a good idea? To make fun of women on (a made up day) Valentines Day. Not a huge deal I admit but tiresome nonetheless.

That doesn’t mention women

sunshinenroses · 14/02/2023 07:24

But it could be talking to men or women, maybe I'm missing the point?

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 14/02/2023 07:25

Has it been sent only to female customers?

MrsBunnyEars · 14/02/2023 07:25

I think it’s gently taking the piss out of horoscopes, not women.

AllWorkYoPlait · 14/02/2023 07:25

What they said. It doesn't mention women.

pinksheetss · 14/02/2023 07:25

Yep YABU nothing in that

araiwa · 14/02/2023 07:26

Tbf it is only women that seem to believe that guff

TaraMock · 14/02/2023 07:26

I wouldn't say it's misogynistic (where does it even mention women?), but it is a shit marketing campaign 🙄

FuzzyPuffling · 14/02/2023 07:26

St Valentine's Day is a Christian Saint's day, not "made up" ( in the sense that you mean it) .

It's a crap/boring/ predictable email, but I wouldn't say it was misogynistic as it doesn't mention women.

Coxspurplepippin · 14/02/2023 07:26

Barf inducing yes, misogynistic, no.

HitTheRoadJackAndDontYouComeBack · 14/02/2023 07:26

YABU

IwasToldThereWouldBeCake · 14/02/2023 07:27

It's not particularly funny, but the presumption of desperation for love is a bit outdated, on insult scale it's about 1.5 out of 10.

Whatatimetobealivetoday · 14/02/2023 07:27

FFS do you not feel constantly stressed finding offence everywhere?

MrsMikeDrop · 14/02/2023 07:28

Lighten up Hmm

dudsville · 14/02/2023 07:28

It's just criticising two camps; those who use horoscopes and those who have a lot of criteria.

Catspyjamas17 · 14/02/2023 07:28

Only if it say "Hey ladeez" or similarly vomit inducing content at the beginning.

JumbleSailor · 14/02/2023 07:29

Sorry I don't understand. Can you explain a bit more what your issue is with this?

Pricklyheath · 14/02/2023 07:30

It’s an advert.
It doesn’t mention women.
Ignore if you don’t like it.

dudsville · 14/02/2023 07:30

Unless... it's it a "joke" where you are that women are the only ones who believe in horoscopes? It is a "joke" where i am that women are too picky.

DoomedForLoneliness · 14/02/2023 07:32

’hand-feed, staring in their eyes’

That was disgusting!
I threw up a bit.

Sexist or not, who cares!
Who writes garbage above!

GoodChat · 14/02/2023 07:33

It's about as gender neutral as you can get

ChrisPPancake · 14/02/2023 07:36

Nope. Can't see the misogyny.

Inyournightgarden · 14/02/2023 07:38

So, basically you’re one of those women who is just looking for reasons to be offended.

grow up

Downunderduchess · 14/02/2023 07:38

Okey doke, thanks for the comments, appreciate your feedback.

Okunevo · 14/02/2023 07:39

It's gender neutral and could equally be aimed at a man.
