To think this generic email is misogynistic?

Received this email this afternoon from Ubereats (I’m in Sydney). Glanced at it & was about to ignore then I read the bit about stop relying on horoscopes to find true love. I’m not looking for love so not offended in that respect but honestly who thought this was a good idea? To make fun of women on (a made up day) Valentines Day. Not a huge deal I admit but tiresome nonetheless.

I don't think you know what misogynistic means.

TrishM80 · 14/02/2023 09:11

As others have said, no mention of women in that ad. And even if it did, it's hardly "misogynist". Misogyny is a hatred of women, people on this forum throw around the term for every little grievance, imagined or otherwise.

@Downunderduchess Are you saying you think only women are stupid enough to fall for horoscopes?

Because if you are that sounds a bit misogynistic Grin

maybe the OP can tell everyone why they thought this might have been misogynist ?

Nope, if you read what I said before commenting you would have seen that I said I’m not offended. I was just asking the question, more so as to what others thought. Thanks though.

She doth protest too much.

If you’re offended, own it, don’t be so coy and such a fence sitter.

ConcordeOoter · 14/02/2023 09:48

It doesn't mention women.

For that matter the design is liberally coated with straight man repellant. if you assumed the sex of the "soul mate" for someone who read that far in an email like this it would probably lean more towards male.

Knackeredmommy · 14/02/2023 09:49

You have assumed this is aimed at women.

Propagandalf · 14/02/2023 15:50

@Downunderduchess - you said in your OP that you'e not offended and it's not a huge deal (in your own words).

People responded to your thread.

Unluckily to you, pretty much all of them responding to you are correct.

You are clearly offended.

pinksheetss · 14/02/2023 15:58

Clearly offended if you went to the trouble of making a thread about it on mumsnet though

If it wasn't that big a deal you'd have read it and went on with your life
