Tea drinkers tend to be slimmer than coffee drinkers.
Those weird people who don't drink any hot drinks are slimmest of all.
I drink loads of strong coffee with oat milk.
I am fat.

Oat milk, particularly barista style has a lot of added oil in, which if drinking several cups of tea/coffee a day will add up to a fair whack of calories

DahliaMacNamara · 26/01/2023 23:01

Hardly ever drink hot drinks of any kind, and except for wine a couple of nights a week I don't take in calories from drink. Fat as a fat fucker.

SovietKitsch · 26/01/2023 23:08

The fattest person I know, doesn’t drink hot drinks

NeverDropYourMooncup · 26/01/2023 23:08

Drink coffee and tea, no soft drinks - fat.

My mother, drinks tea - fat

DP, drinks tea, coffee and soft drinks - slim

Next door neighbour, no hot drinks - morbidly obese

NDN's boyfriend, no hot drinks - morbidly obese

Old neighbour, no hot drinks - supermorbidly obese

Colleagues x 2, drink tea and coffee - very slim

Boss, drinks tea and coffee - underweight

Line manager, drinks tea - obese

90-odd% of the teenagers at work, soft drinks, some tea, some coffee - slim

<5% of teenagers at work, no hot drinks - not as slim

<5% of teenagers at work, hot drinks - not as slim

It's as if there's no real correlation, other than if they drink (and eat) more calories than they need at whatever temperature they prefer.

StillMedusa · 26/01/2023 23:10

Black (weak) coffee here. BMI 20 and has been since I was 20... 35 years...

Tesoroxx · 26/01/2023 23:12

I'm one of the weird people who don't drink any hot drinks and I'm 10stone overweigh so 🤣

Zoeyclash · 26/01/2023 23:15

I drink coffee, no tea. BMI normal (but I think I look fat).

FeinCuroxiVooz · 26/01/2023 23:18

I don't drink any hot drinks at all and I am hovering on the boundaries between overweight and obese.

ohfook · 26/01/2023 23:21

I don't drink hot drinks at all and I'm fat. I'd like your theory to be true though.

Itgoesalittlesomethinglikethis · 26/01/2023 23:27

5 cups of coffee max a day (milky). I don't eat sweet things like chocolate or biscuits/cake with it.
Lots of dilutable juice in the evening (my DCs drink more water than me)
Copious coke zero at the weekend
Slim athletic not skinny or fat

Patineur · 26/01/2023 23:39

I drink mostly tea. Sadly, it hasn't protected me from being fat.

Fifthtimelucky · 26/01/2023 23:50

I am weird person who doesn't drink any hot drinks.

I wish I could say that I proved your theory, but unfortunately I can't as I am overweight.

Robin233 · 27/01/2023 08:14

I drink Hot water - I'm slim ...

Robin233 · 27/01/2023 08:18

Dad used ti drink coffee all the time / he was slim too.
Think weights got more to do the type of food and exercise you have daily.
I eat healthy and love walking.

WillsandKatesDivorcePartyDJ · 27/01/2023 08:42

I suppose what I was wondering about is the correlation between those who like bitter tastes (like coffee) and whether that means they're more likely to enjoy other things with complex flavours which can be fattening such as strong cheese, wine, smoked meats, curry (not homemade) etc.

OP posts:
Thepeopleversuswork · 27/01/2023 08:46

There’s also a demographic counter argument to your theory OP:

Coffee drinkers tend to be more affluent than tea drinkers. And affluent people are generally slimmer.

Disproven.

SusanPerbCallMeSue · 27/01/2023 09:03

I don't drink hot drinks and I'm obese.

I mainly drink water, with the odd fizzy drink, and a couple of glasses of wine at the weekend. I do eat lots of food though. Trying to eat less and move more.
