Circumcision

SouthAfricanmuminUK · 26/01/2023 18:02

I was thoroughly abused by several English mums of my acquaintance for having my sons circumcised at birth. Although I did my research and found it to be better from a number of perspectives, nothing would convince them it was reasonable. I am wondering if they will retract their accusations now that it has been revealed that Diana, saintliest of all mothers, had both her boys circumcised ...

Ahh another topic the crazies are passionate about.

Circumcision absolutely fine and benign.

Didn't she also have to have her virginity checked before marrying Charles? Just because the upperclass may do something doesn't make it right.

I take it you wouldn't care if you had had your inner labia or clitoral hood removed as a baby then, right @BabyOnBoard90?

The fact you think the two are comparable speaks to your lack of human physiology knowledge not mine

Yeah crazy to want your baby’s genitalia intact eh?

🙄

Please explain to me how removal of the clitoral hood is not exactly equivalent to removal of the foreskin

I'll wait...

Male circumcision, unless medically advised, is unnecessary and should be outlawed. But please, please, please - it is NOT in any way, shape or form ‘as bad’ as FGM which is life changing and physiologically stunting whatever they cut away. The lives of girls who experience FGM are blighted. Males who are circumcised are still able to fully function and able to experience pleasure (although arguably less than uncircumcised men). FGM is misogynistic and barbaric. Make circumcision is just dumb and based on false health assumptions.

FGM is a spectrum. Some are horrendous and barbaric, others are directly comparable and some even less invasive than male circumcision. It's all needless genital mutilation so comparisons are valid.

Lochjeda · 26/01/2023 22:45

Anyone who mutilates their babies genitals is absolutely disgusting regardless of who they are in my opinion. You absolutely should have no right to do that to a person unless for medical needs.

SaltySeaAir · 26/01/2023 18:36

I'm astonished it is allowed.

My son was circumcised when he was 5 for medical reasons - it was awful. I cannot imagine why any parent would ever choose to do that without good cause.

The cognitive dissonance. Seeing it perfectly fine for medical "treatment" but it somehow it equates to a form of mutilation? Sigh

As someone who's actually studied human physiology, it's not worth my time educating a stranger who doesn't know the difference

I should know better than to let myself get baited by your kind.

You'd think someone who has studied human physiology would be familiar with the concept of phimosis lol

Nice try.

oof, that awkward feeling when someone’s idea of being clever is actually quite stupid.

FGM is quite a broad range of things. At the least damaging end the clitoral hood is nicked (as in cut, but not removed), which would actually make it less damaging to the integrity of the organ than circumcision as it is commonly practiced in the U.K.
There also happen to be other, more sever forms of circumcision that are common in other countries and cultures, but that’s not really the point, which is that cutting chunks off babies is not good, and the fact that it is the sex organs which are being targeted is weird.

Ooooo okay genius. Now provide the female equivalent for phimosis and the surgical treatment 🙄😂

ACynicalDad · 26/01/2023 22:57

Unless it's needed medically, it should wait until the child is an adult and can make an informed choice, I don't think religion is a good enough reason either.

For someone presumingly so clever this is a whole load of waffle

Nonsense. The clitoral hood is just a prepuce aka foreskin exactly like a boy's and serves the same purpose.
FGM is way more invasive often involving cliteridectomy. But neither is fine and benign surely.

Thankfully just asserting it doesn't make it true x

As a man I'd have been properly pissed off had my parents decided have a bit of my knob chopped off for no sane reason, so I'm very glad they were reasonable human beings

Its mutilation and child abuse (unless medically required)

Grimchmas · 27/01/2023 00:51

@ElonsMusky

we had my son circumcised. My husband is circumcised. I mostly deferred to him on the decision since he has those parts. Uncut dicks are gross and it's a utter myth that there's any difference is sex.

since your husband likely had his foreskin chopped off as a baby I don't suppose he does know any different in sex. There's a ton of scientific research that says it does.

As for finding a penis in its natural state gross: I think chopping baby's genitalia up is way more gross.

Ericaequites · 27/01/2023 01:09

Nearly all male gay porn features uncircumcised men. Take that for what it’s worth.
