apart from the fact that jodie whittaker is arguably The.Best.Docter.Ever. we will most likely not see a female dr in the next 20 years. if ever.

OP posts:
MajorCarolDanvers · 22/01/2023 20:43

❤️ David Tennant ❤️ will always be my favourite

Runningoncoffeealone · 22/01/2023 20:46

Loved the DoctorDonna! Sorry, missing the point of the thread - there's always a chance we will see another female Doctor sooner than that, but I agree that the storylines weren't as entertaining with JW.
Fantastic actress though - although I'm biased because I'm from....actually I'm not going to finish that sentence 😂

ExtraOnions · 22/01/2023 20:20

Terrible stories
Badly Written
Acted like a 6th Form Drama play

So bad for the brand that Russell T has been brought back to rescue it ..

Absolutely

Afraid you are in a minority OP

She was rubbish but it was more Chibnall than her.

Cannot wait to be able to watch Dr Who again. The ratings are so bad they've had to find a way to bring David Tennant back as much needed CPR

ghostyslovesheets · 22/01/2023 20:48

Yeah I doubt Sean Pertwee would do it but he might be in it one day - we can hope!

PuttingDownRoots · 22/01/2023 20:51

Some of the storyline had promise. I quite liked the Rosa Parks story for example.

I think we will see another female Time Lord in the near future
(I'm hoping the Disney input will mean more episodes more regularly)

darjeelingrose · 22/01/2023 21:04

Nope: YABU. Sadly her time on the show was pants because of C.Chibnall. She's good the stories were really not. I didn't overly like the companions either, too many of them. I can't wait for them to get back to some good writing and story lines, and there is no reason to be all doom and gloom, why wouldn't there be another female doctor?

Merlinsbeard83 · 22/01/2023 21:08

I like Jodie as the doctor . But I agree with so many others ,the stories were not very good . They seem to invest a lot more time and probably money in previous seasons .
Less stories preaching and more science fiction is needed

imnotalpharius · 22/01/2023 21:11

I liked having an older companion as well as younger ones, while there were too many I think there were some good ideas behind them. Exploring grief and dyspraxia were quite good elements I thought.

I loved Sacha Darwin's Master.

The Timeless Child stuff and weird weeping angels being the Doctors army can get in the bin.

ReamsOfCheese · 22/01/2023 21:12

Bring back Tom Baker and Lalla Ward

LadyLaLaa · 22/01/2023 21:13

Whatsnewpussyhat · 22/01/2023 20:22

She was bloody awful, with the daft gurning face.
Mostly though the writers did a crap job with all the dull endlessly preachy storylines and even duller companions.

Sorry op, but I have to agree with this.

Augend23 · 22/01/2023 21:13

😆

ghostyslovesheets · 22/01/2023 21:14

The Timeless Child stuff and weird weeping angels being the Doctors army can get in the bin agreed!

Augend23 · 22/01/2023 21:15

Sorry I was trying to find the TARDIS emoji and had fat fingers...
No sign here :(

Thesonglastslonger · 22/01/2023 21:18

Meh. I found her hard to watch and I thought her casting was more of the BBC’s genderlessness woke crap. Male and female are not costumes for a character to put on, sex is part of a character’s immutable and very basic nature. If you look at the production crew who worked on Dr Who at the time she was cast, it was obvious they had a political agenda and let it ruin a great series. I stopped watching the series because of this.

Much preferred Eccleston, and Tennant was great too.

MasterBeth · 22/01/2023 21:31

I loved Jodie but disliked her series. She was let down.

Chibnall could not write compelling characters or stories. Both RTD and Moffatt at their best wrote tremendous, exciting, funny, clever adventures. Chibnall's stories plodded along.

All of this.

I couldn't even make myself watch her entire run. I badly hope RTD can turn it around.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 22/01/2023 20:25

Liked Jodie, hated the preaching storylines.

Bet the next woman doctor is a man.

I see what you did there...WinkGrin

Echobelly · 22/01/2023 21:56

Whittaker just did not do it for me unfortunately. Wanted her to, but just didn't gel as an overall character. Nothing to do with her being a woman, just not great writing.

However, Jo Martin as the Fugitive Doctor was absolutely incredible in every scene she's in so I hope we get to see at least a spin-off special or something with her starring!

I think we will see another female Doctor, though.

Ottil · 22/01/2023 21:58

Jodie was a good actress parachuted into a shitty role which was badly written

This mostly, although I don't think Jodie W is a particularly amazing actress. She stretches 'being likeable' and an okay actress a long way. A female Dr was pushing at an open door with me but I thought the whole thing was bloody awful. I gave up in the end. There was nothing I liked: the tardis full of companions, her version of the Dr, the writing... it sucked, frankly.

I REALLY wish Michelle Gomez could have been the doctor. I mean, she was awesome as Missy, but imagine her as Dr Who.

Giggorata · 22/01/2023 22:09

I couldn’t see the required depth in Jodie and I loathed the Fam and all the woke crap. I would have liked more Jo Martin, much more Doctory.

The Timeless Child has shat all over cannon and is best forgotten about.

RandomersAssociation · 23/01/2023 16:57

Joanna Scanlan would be an inspired next Doctor after Ncuti Gatwa - such a contrast but both magnificent actors.

The whole Chibnall era is best forgotten. Least said, soonest mended.

Rubyupbeat · 23/01/2023 17:04

Sorry I just could not take to Jodie, for me Jon Pertwee was THE doctor.

CallMeDuringDrWhoAndIllKillYou · 23/01/2023 17:04

I'd like to see Joanna Scanlan taking on the Cybermen or the Master. She'd stand none of their nonsense.

Harriet Walter would be good but at 72 probably not up to the demands of the role.

RandomersAssociation · 23/01/2023 17:14

After decades and decades of breathless Who adoration (interest waned late 70s until RTD) I can confidently declare Matt Smith to be my Doctor. He was so old and sad and brave and playful - and the River Song relationship was just beyond all expectations of brilliance.

CoorieInByTheFire · 23/01/2023 17:16

David Tennant was the best doctor, we stopped watching it about 3 into JW as the stories were so poor and the acting so irritating.
