To be angry over a name

My baby is 6 months old and we named her a very uncommon name that was special to us. Recently we met an old friend of my husband's, they are still in the same circle but not close friends anymore. He asked us the usual questions about a new baby including her name. He and his partner had a baby in the last few days and called their baby our daughters name.
He did not mention anything about her name when we told them it and I am feeling irrationally angry that they have used our daughters name.

I'm not sure if OP thinks she made up the name but a PP posted links showing the "unique" name dates back to at least 1940. It may be an unusual name, but it's not a new name that the OP has just created.

Several people have found ONE person, the same person, with the name. More than one person can make up the same thing at different times, one person hardly means the name really dates back nearly a hundered years,

I think I read a thread recently where somebody wanted to name their baby Brick 😂😂

I've met an actual Brick. He really suited the name.

There are some funny posts on here! 😂

@Barbie46 YABU absolutely. I do believe no-one owns a name. I think anyone who kicks off about someone using their child's name is a bit wet and pathetic to be honest. I mean really? With so much shit going on in the world, and with so much worse things that could be happening in your life, you flag up THIS as something that is upsetting/affecting your life. Surely the person who copied the name is to be pitied for being such a sad sack that they had to copy your child's name?!

My cousin called her daughter Hannah, as she loved the name, and said (secretly to me and my mum and her mum only) she would call her baby Hannah if it was a girl, or Harry if it was a boy. This was several years before the baby was born.

Her childhood friend who she had known for 27 years, cast her out of her life and friendship group, and ghosted her, because HER daughter (then 2) was called Hannah. There are some good and valid reasons to dispense with a 27 year friendship you've had since you were 7, but your friend giving her daughter the same name as yours is NOT a good and valid reason. Silly mare.

Was it his actual.name or a Nick name?

Out of sheer boredom curiosity I googled the name last night and the only relevant result I got was a website that told me there had been <100 babies names Renlea in America since 1880.

Interestingly, 418 babies have been named Brick.

If never heard of the name before. I think it is very strange that they called their baby the same one.

ZekeZeke · 23/01/2023 16:30

Watched the Twilight movie too much.
Didn't they call the baby Renesmee afterthought 2 grandmothers

I think you’re being a bit precious, tbh.

Or a Brick name?!

Did he go on to have a baby girl and call her Briquette?
