Was I being unreasonable to keep a scammer on the ropes for 2 days?

Light-hearted really and just wanted to share, loads of these scams floating around out there and the worrying part is some people probably do fall for them, but I had my fun.

So so hilarious…thanks OP for that 😅

If they've given you actual bank details do report it to the relevant banks (send the full set of messages working in bank customer services can be a boring job!!)

If you're not sure which bank stick the sort code here and it will tell you. Usually they will suspend the account and invite the account holder to contact them. Sort code checker

Thanks so much for sharing! I had a good giggle to myself :)

I particularly love the £7.30 at the end.

I cracked up laughing at that part. Brilliant 😂👏🏻

CherryRipe1 · 20/01/2023 18:01

Haha Scorcher!! Conner is an apt name for a conman.

RaininSummer · 20/01/2023 18:04

I really enjoyed that.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/01/2023 18:34

I recently impulsively answered a call from a suspicious number that I knew was going to be a scam. It was. Caller said he was calling about my crypto acct. I said, Oh, good. I've been waiting for your colleague to call me but I guess he's busy. He was going to confirm my two accounts. Could you please do that?
Caller was, uhhh. I said something like I was planning on combining the accts but unsure about it now. As I was speaking mid-sentence I ended the call and blocked the number. For the next half hour I rec'd a call from a suspicious number every few mins and I just declined the call and blocked each number. Not many scam call s lately. 🤷‍♀️

Mangogogogo · 20/01/2023 18:36

I got one the other day and I was so tempted to be like ‘is it Julia or Clare??’ And when they say ‘Clare’ be like hah! My daughters name is blancmange actually.

it’s not funny but it was like midnight and my brain was doing it’s bizarre things

Reugny · 20/01/2023 18:38

NotTooOldPaul · 20/01/2023 16:19

That was brilliant.

My best attempt was when I had a phone call bout my road accident. My reply was to ask if I could get any compensation as I'd been killed in the accident. He transferred me to his manager who asked for details and was really understanding!!!.
She talked to me for five minutes before I got fed up and hung up.

😂

They watch too many zombie movies.

I thought that might tip them over the edge :)

My mum got one of these and I’d never heard of the scam (and I work in that industry!!)

man I’ve just read it to her and she was wetting herself. Loved the ‘dont spend it on cockiness and chicken’ 😂😂😂

did they just stop replying?

LookItsMeAgain · 20/01/2023 18:52

There's a woman on TikTok that has a landline in her home and she claims to not know the number but it seems to have been signed up to loads of telemarketing companies. Each time she answers her phone she has another witty welcome message. I'll see if I can find her and post her name/handle. She says she's a crematorium amongst other things!

LookItsMeAgain · 20/01/2023 18:54

This one is particularly good:

LookItsMeAgain · 20/01/2023 18:57

This is the woman that I was talking about:

stepkidscopingstrategy · 20/01/2023 19:08

😂😂😂🤗👍🏻

Cherrysoup · 20/01/2023 19:34

‘Conner’!! Superb! 🤣

60smusic · 20/01/2023 19:35

Very good, I do like things like this.

It reminds me of something similar that I read many many years ago, it was a scam email from one of those looking for money, the guy posted daily updates on the biker forum he was on, it was so funny it went viral, every chat site had the thread link and everyone everywhere was reading it. The site actually crashed one day, never found it after, have looked but no joy.

itswednesdayy · 20/01/2023 19:39

The best thing I read online was signing them up to spam services. So you can add their email or number to something dodgy like puppies being sold on gumtree and they will be spammed with messages/calls

gravyriceandchips · 20/01/2023 19:50

Post his mobile Number we can all have a go

christmashilly · 20/01/2023 19:50

Soooo funny

SheWoreYellow · 20/01/2023 14:20

I particularly love the £7.30 at the end.

Me too. And the sparkly crocs for Nan's funeral
You're really creative. You should write a novel!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/01/2023 20:35

The issues with signing up the phone number of the scam caller to nuisance services is that the scammers' numbers are spoofed. They are usually real phone numbers belonging to legitimate business/unsuspecting people now.

soddingspiderseason · 21/01/2023 11:55

This has absolutely made my morning! Bravo!

Bettysnow · 21/01/2023 12:24

🤣🤣🤣🤣Brilliant!

FlamingoSocks · 21/01/2023 12:32

That was so funny thank you!
