There are social tariffs for broadband and water if your on some benefits.
If you have Plantar Facilitis a Cortisone injection can be given free at the doctors and helps relieve the pain.
Tell us something we might not know that can help us?

Percentages are reversible - sometimes makes calculations quicker:

eg 40% of 60 = 60% of 40

15% of 80 = 80% of 15

Mind is blown. Thank you for sharing this.

If it is electricity - not phones it does not apply - then you are entitled to compensation. It is called wayleave permission. there are companies that will put in a claim for you, but it is easy to do yourself. www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/electricity/equipment

Brilliant! Thank you 😁

Use a pillowcase to contain delicate items to be washed instead of buying delicates bags. Can tie the top before placing in washing machine.

White vinegar in warm water is good for cleaning windows - polish off with pieces of newspaper - no smears left behind.

Whenever you get nasty stains in your mugs because people leave coffee in them, just scrub them with some washing powder or bicarbonate of soda. It works like magic. Sometimes you can even soak it with the washing powder and it will come right off.

To clean blood stains I use a bar of soap and cold water. I cut off a piece and rub it directly onto the fabric on both sides. It comes right off.

I never scrub anything I just use elbow grease. I spray it leave it for a while come back and just wipe it off.

I assume you mean you use Elbow Grease, not elbow grease. Using elbow grease literally does mean scrubbing.

If you're stranded in the Arctic and have to kill a polar bear for food, DON'T eat it's liver - at times it can contain so much Vitamin A that it could kill you.

This also applies to lions, tigers, wolves and any other carnivores you might consume for survival. Only eat liver from a herbivore.

My self defence instructor told our group that if you are grabbed by a bloke do any or all of the following.

  1. Pee yourself.
  2. Pick your nose and eat it.
  3. Spit.
Basically anything that might hopefully cause revulsion. Also never scream for help, instead scream FIRE as it's much more likely to attract people. If you are able to grab your attackers testicles you must twist them, it's far more painful than squeezing. Finally it's unlikely you're going to be physically stronger than your attacker, but the human jaw has more bite per pounds pressure than most dogs. So bite lumps out of them if you can, especially their face and throat.

Not convinced by any of these. Any data to back them up?
No. 1 is quite likely to happen anyway when people are being attacked and get nervous and I'm not convinced it stops attackers.
Spitting and biting your attacker might infuriate him and he'd take it out on you. As you say, it's unlikely you'll be physically stronger so unless you're a self-defence wizard or have a weapon, I'm not sure fighting back is helpful...

Keep a can of spray paint near your door (for touching up the car or numbering the bins) and you can spray intruders if they try to force their way in or attack you. A bright yellow or sky blue burglar probably wouldn't hang about for long.

@jessieminto this is amazing! Why are we not told this when we’re leaving the hospital with our babies? I needed to know this a long time ago but hopefully you’ll have saved a few people from this appalling Christmas Eve adrenaline sport

Don't forget to accessorise with a ball gag should you be fortunate enough to visit the Sistene Chapel!

Joint email account with dh- sounds simple but so much easier to share responsibility for school stuff, holiday bookings etc if you're both seeing it- especially school stuff!

We have a shared Google calendar with our entries colour coded. Really helpful

The toxicity of husky dog liver (like polar bear liver) is thought to have contributed to the failure of several Polar expeditions. Stranded in snowstorms, running out of rations, the explorers resorted to eating their sled dos. They usually ate the liver first as the "most nutritious". The toxicity of vitamin A caused muscle weakness which made them too weak to o walk to safety when the storm abated.

Eejits! Never eat what a dog won’t eat.

vera99 · 21/01/2023 09:48

If you think you may have cancer but worry about waiting times deliberately break your leg in a crowded shopping centre. When the ambulance finally comes to take you to A&E casually mention the lump to the doctor and hey presto criminally long waiting list times dissapear.

vera99 · 21/01/2023 09:51

Friends coming for a dinner party buy expensive cuts of meat for yourself and substitute dog food for theirs and spice it up to hide the off flavours making sure they are drunk before eating. Casually let slip you have made a dog's dinner of the meal to them to gails of laughter all round!

This will surely be a lifesaver! I'll tell all my friends. 🙏

I have stopped reading this thread as there too much polar bear talk.

Or the brains because that’s how we got BSE. The extra thing about polar bears is their parasites might kill you if you eat them raw. Or maybe that’s a common thing with carnivores as well. Best to avoid eating carnivores.

To add to this. Let go if your dog! They hate dogs. The brown ones in Scandinavia are usually shy except when they have cubs.

hookiewookie29 · 21/01/2023 10:04

Cut sausages up with scissors.
If you buy supermarket pizzas, open the boxes out completely to put the cooked pizzas on to cut.

vera99 · 21/01/2023 10:04

If you must buy Prince Harry's book then buy 2 at the same time then you can always say you have a Spare.

hookiewookie29 · 21/01/2023 10:05

If you do chalky pictures with the kids, spray them with hairspray to set the chalk and stop it smudging

I shall definitely remember this should I ever be stranded in the arctic. Thank you!

I did read years ago that you shouldn't eat an animal that eats other animals .
So our cats are safe because I know what catfood smells like so I'm not going near their livers .

But pigs will (allegedly) eat a human so that's a whole new conundrum.

(Good job I;m vegetarian, I don't need to concern my pretty little head )
