There are social tariffs for broadband and water if your on some benefits.
If you have Plantar Facilitis a Cortisone injection can be given free at the doctors and helps relieve the pain.
Tell us something we might not know that can help us?

The safest place to stay in a hotel is a room at the back, between the 3-6th floors.

Front is more likely to be bombed, and lower survival if you're about the 6th floor in bomb, but 3rd and above is safer in a fire.

The toxicity of husky dog liver (like polar bear liver) is thought to have contributed to the failure of several Polar expeditions. Stranded in snowstorms, running out of rations, the explorers resorted to eating their sled dos. They usually ate the liver first as the "most nutritious". The toxicity of vitamin A caused muscle weakness which made them too weak to o walk to safety when the storm abated.

Toothpaste is a brilliant cleaner for silver

If your road appears to be flooding in very heavy rain, get a broom and stab the long handle down the drains to loosen any trapped debris- the water will rush away quickly

Acetone (nail polish remover) removes henna and some other hair dyes from surfaces, but also damages the surface of some plastics so do a spot test first.

Joint email account with dh- sounds simple but so much easier to share responsibility for school stuff, holiday bookings etc if you're both seeing it- especially school stuff!

That is genius.

To take it a step further (and avoid the palaver of untying) you could use a button and an elastic loop, or a strong popper.

If any part of the electricity cable connecting to neighbouring houses goes over your land you are entitled to payments from the electricity company. Even if it is just a few feet of cable and very high up.

If you burn the inside of a pan boil up some potato peelings in it and leave overnight. Most of the burned stuff should have come off.

Fool your neighbours into thinking you are off surfing every weekend by tying an ironing board to your roof rack ( Viz circa 1987, still makes me chuckle at the absurdity of it 😆)

Need Panko breadcrumbs for katsu curry but don't want to pay silly a price? Bake ordinary breadcrumbs on a low heat in the oven or airfryer.

Make your own granola by using ordinary porridge oats, dessicated coconut, chopped nuts and seeds or cheap, boring muesli and then stir in enough apple juice to make it slightly damp and then bake on a low heat until dried. Cool completely and it will be crunchy and delicious.

If the cereal at the bottom of your cereal box or the last biscuits in the bottom of the packet or tin are no longer crunchy, pop into the bottom of an oven on a low heat and then cool. Voila, instantly crunchy again.

Make light and airy home made bread without the faff of weighing the ingredients, kneading or using expensive bread flour.

Simply mix some warm water, salt, and plain flour together with a good sprinkling of fast acting yeast so it's thick and sloppy and leave until it bubbles up.

Then mix in more flour and anything else you want in there such as chopped nuts, seeds.

Form into balls for the air fryer or loaves and bake on a medium to high heat.

If you don't use all the dough at once, it will stay fresh in the fridge for a week, just spray with olive oil and cover with cling film to prevent it drying out.

( Taste the mixture at both stages. A squirt of yogurt, apple cider vinegar, honey, olive oil are all optional extras you can add at the initial stage or add in the later stage if you find it's too salty.)

If you find you haven't put enough salt in the dough simply season the top before or after baking.
Game changer.

To remove oily stains (like from a bolognese sauce) from a Tupperware container - put a shred of kitchen roll, washing up liquid and hot water, lid on and shake vigorously. The kitchen roll absorbs the staining.

A damp microfibre cloth removes dust from the tops of candles.

Don’t pack all your own stuff in one bag when flying, split across the family so of a bag gets lost you’ve still got some of your stuff.

Is this true? My neighbours electric cable goes over my drive and is attached to my house…

Who pays me?!

Self defence tip: pinch your eyebrow roughly in the middle and you’ll feel a painful area. Bite attackers here if pinned down and can’t use your arms/hands.

lonelyinyournightmare · 21/01/2023 08:59

If it is electricity - not phones it does not apply - then you are entitled to compensation. It is called wayleave permission. there are companies that will put in a claim for you, but it is easy to do yourself. www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/electricity/equipment

Panty liners have other uses, I put them on the armpit of my T-shirt,so that sweat gets absorbed, preventing the wet feeling. You can but sweat pads but they are expensive. Also I can wear the t shirt for a few days, reducing the amount of washes

There's as much chance of me doing this as there is of inviting a tiger to tea.

If you're stranded in the Arctic and have to kill a polar bear for food, DON'T eat it's liver - at times it can contain so much Vitamin A that it could kill you.

Thanks I'll be sure to take heed of this one ❤️💋

A quick spray of hairspray on cards with glitter keeps it in place.

For long journeys pack your clothes in those giant vacuum bags : such a space saver. Most destinations will have a Hoover so you can vacuum bag them for the return journey

See, I'd have eaten the liver first. Just shows you.

🤣🤣🤣

I feel no pain pinching between my eyebrows, @Relaxd - how do I know that a potential attacker might be the same?
Also, if you bite someone, won't you get blood in your mouth?

Wild bears aren’t something that I’ve ever encountered. Is this something those of us who live in the Home Counties need to know about ?

my tip - when picking up a takeaway, put your heated seat on full and put takeaway on seat for drive back. (Don’t do this if you’ve picked up sushi)

Our heated seats only work if there is someone sitting in them.

As soon as you are pregnant work out your 8 week qualifying period and look to maximise your earnings e.g go full time/increase hours.

To qualify for SMP when starting a new job wait for your first period before TTC. You would be amazed how many TTC when offered the job and miss out.

And if you can get any bonuses/commission due to you paid in this qualifying period then they'll also be taken into account

Givinguponthissituation · 21/01/2023 09:08

Not necessarily a tip but something people seem to forget.

Alcohol and antibacterial gels and sprays do not kill viruses, specifically norovirus (d&v.) “Dettoling” your house after someone throws up or has diarrhoea does nothing.

the substances that kill noro are: benzalkonium chloride and benzethonium chloride (found in Clinell) and good old fashioned BLEACH.

When going for your smear lie as flat as you can. Means you’re not sitting on your cervix and it’s not so tilted so easier to get to. Also can negate the need to sit on your hands, which causes dead hands.

If you put too much salt in a dish you’re cooking on the hob, put a raw potato in - it absorbs the salt.

Last 2 smears I've had nurse could do it until I made a fist and put it under my coccyx, so raised / tilted. I think we all made slightly differently..
