Were you there in 1990???? I love the stone roses, my first single was sally cinnamon. I saw them live for the first time in Berlin in 1995. Was there on a student engineering field trip, dancing to "I am the Resurrection" at the Metropol absolutely off my tits and then walked for hours from the venue back to my hotel in east Berlin via the Brandenburg gate in the wee hours feeling more alive then I can remember.

Hell yeah!

Everything that has already been said! The 90s were my whole teens and my very early 20s, so it was all just MY YOUTH and it was great 😊

Growing up without social media, with limited mobile phone use (although there was a bizarre trend for pagers among my friends in the mid 90s?!) and without a gazillion channels of entertainment and information constantly streaming at you - there was just so much more of a sense of freedom than today’s young people have.

I went to Ibiza with my friends aged 17.. We got a Teletext package for 140 quid, went away with a few bikinis in our suitcase , minimal cash and hired mopeds and blagged into raves and it was spectacular. Sent a postcard to my Mum but didn’t speak to her for a fortnight other than that.

It would probably be some sort of safeguarding incident now. And we’d probably spend the whole time posting filtered pics on Instagram zzzzzz.

Don't forget the Curly Wurley's!

I’m reading a book called ‘Faster than a Cannonball - 1995 and All That’ by Dylan Jones at the moment, which consists of interviews and writing about the 90s, culturally, and is both interesting and the biggest nostalgia trip ever.

There’s a section about Pulp at Glastonbury in 1995 - I was at Glastonbury that year and I’ve always wondered why I didn’t see them, but the book says Portishead were on at the same time and I would have gone to that instead. Good times indeed.

Anyone remember the cover for Sorted for E’s and Wizz which showed you how to make a speed wrap?!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 21/01/2023 16:53

I loved the silver metallic one, it was bloody amazing and the dark purple called Morticia...

Silver Cloud? God I loved that one!

Double Decker bars when they still had raisins in the biscuity bit.

Bluepanda86 · 21/01/2023 17:21

Not sure if Sega Mega Drive was mentioned especially the 2nd edition and the original PlayStation also the Gameboy Color. Many hours spent playing Worms, Crash Bandicoot and bring terrified of facing wolves in Tomb Raider 🫣.

Also the classics on Nickelodeon like Doug, Rugrats, Hey Arnold and Kenan and Kel!

The Spice Girls

Playing snake on my Nokia 3310

No social media and internet only on pc

Zig zag hair partings, crimpers, hair springs and tiny clips, glitter everything, blue mascara, Tommy girl perfume, platform boots, belly tops.

Take that mania

Boundless energy and optimism.

No awareness of world events.

I still wear Tommy Girl now, and CK One, clinging to a bygone age!

Dnadoon · 21/01/2023 18:09

NAF NAF and Juice jackets
The boys wore Raiders
White musk and Vanilla from The body shop

aoilily · 21/01/2023 21:49

Posters on my bedroom walls. Horses from Horse and Pony Magazine when I was younger, Backstreet Boys from Shout magazine when I was a teenager. Is it me or do kids not put posters on their walls any more?

Payitforward55 · 22/01/2023 22:08

I miss it all, 90s grunge clothes, a particular pair of biker boots I had with a square stiched toe, so wish I still had them, my uni friends (93 - 97) a Labour government funding the NHS. Music, TV programmes, not feeling anxious, speaking everyday to my dad

Payitforward55 · 22/01/2023 22:16

Oh and laughing and laughing and laughing and laughing. People don't have as much social contact these days and don't laugh as much. Its food for the soul.

Manumission was so much fun. I remember they did a world city themed series, we made it to the London themed night.

Acupuncture trainers. Watching the Word. Reading The Face.

Probably, I liked that it was a bit textured. It lasted better than most nail varnish and didn't show chips as badly. You could further jazz it up with rainbow glitter top coat.

Ah the memories
