To be so embarrassed?

Was facebook stalking a new male colleague. No reason really, just wanted to find out more about him.
Not sure how on earth I managed it but I ended up sharing his profile photo on my own page. Been up for at least an hour and sure people from work have seen.
Literally dying of embarrassment

Noooooo! Please, noooooo

They can’t if you changed your setting to private mode, even using Premium. Stalk away!

There is a numbr of steps to share someone's pics on own timeline

Indeed there are. Folk saying blame it on your toddler or car. Ffs. Just delete the post. And hope that ant work colleagues who you think would have seen it will be questioning if they saw it at all.

Emdubz · 19/01/2023 21:32

Christmaspyjamas · 19/01/2023 19:07

Oh no that is embarrassing.

But in an hour probably that many people won't have seen it.

Could you share all your other colleagues profile pics too one at a time? It would still be odd but at least would be democratic.

😂

borderline53 · 19/01/2023 21:33

I’ve had something similar done to me. Someone I knew from years ago must have searched me on FB and accidentally liked one of my photos.

Emdubz · 19/01/2023 21:36

DarkShade · 19/01/2023 19:34

Hahahaha that's fucking hilarious. Just imagine the horror you would feel upon realising!

I remember a thread on here last year where the OP overheard a new male colleague telling another colleague where he lived, and just out of idle curiosity typed the address into Google maps. Only her phone was set to navigation, and announced at top volume "starting journey to COLLEAGUE'S ADDRESS" or whatever, right across the room from that very colleague!

I remember this 😁

Carreterra · 19/01/2023 21:45

As has been mentioned, I would delete your FB profile and then create another.
I feel for you.

TildaRae · 19/01/2023 21:45

If you're in private mode on linked in, even premium members cant see who views their profile, I think.

georgarina · 19/01/2023 21:47

Are you friends with your work colleagues?
Mine would have found this hilarious
I did much worse things at work - accidentally walking into the wrong toilet and running into my boss, for example

ToTheMax0 · 19/01/2023 21:47

I could literally die with embarrassment and think the best option is just to email him and be honest.
Just want to crawl under a rock and hide forever.

I’m sorry to break this news

ah well, what’s done is done 😂

WeirdSymptoms2 · 19/01/2023 21:57

This really made me laugh too, thanks OP! I thought you would have just liked a picture, but posting his picture on your own page is next level!

Honestly I would be dying of embarrassment too, but from an outside perspective this is so trivial in the grand scheme of things, please try not to worry too much!

That’s not worse than this, no where near.

If it makes you feel any better, I once texted my sister confessing to how much I fancied my best friend's boyfriend. Only I didn't send it to my sister. I realised too late I'd sent it to my best friend!!

Oh noooooo what did she say?

Omg thank you and sorry to everyone I terrified. In my defence someone on mn told me this and I have spent last year cringing 😂😂😂

Xrays · 19/01/2023 22:06

I did something similar once. In the morning I’d type in the name of the person I had a crush on at work to search up their profile and have a nosey to see if they’d posted anything the night before. Only - this particular day I must have been half asleep and I put his name as my status!!!! I deleted so, so fast but a couple of people saw it and someone liked it! Just cringing so bad even though that was 14 years ago or so now.

momtoboys · 19/01/2023 22:11

Many years ago (before social media) I did something incredibly embarassing. A friend sent me a card that said "It's never too late to leave town and change your name!" Sorry you are so embarrassed. It will blow over.

Cyanchicken · 19/01/2023 22:20

No one uses Facebook anymore don't worry about it!

Xrays · 19/01/2023 22:26

Everyone I know does…. !

My dd is 19 and her and her friends don’t, despite having a profile. But I’m in my 40s and all my friends and people I know use it a lot, mainly for groups now but if someone posts something it gets seen. (Sorry op)!

FairlyIncognito · 19/01/2023 22:29

Just thinking about the curious ex being tagged as the baby has made my day. My favourite moment in years of mumsnet, in fact. Just brilliant.

Mañanarama · 19/01/2023 22:31

Here’s the embarrassing postcode thread 😂

BiologicalWoman · 19/01/2023 22:42

Yeah...I'm not falling for this one.

ToTheMax0 · 19/01/2023 22:46

Yeah well I wish it was a joke but did really happen unfortunately. Trying to see the funny side but can't at the moment.

icanwearwhatiwant · 19/01/2023 22:50

Oh dear! 😬
I just wouldn't say anything, ever. People do all sorts of weird stalky things on Facebook and as long as you're nice and normal and non stalky on real life he'll probably just shrug it off.

CrookedRiver · 19/01/2023 22:51

harriethoyle · 19/01/2023 19:24

Oh my God this is incredible. Even your precis has made me guffaw @Theredfoxfliesatmidnight 🤣🤣🤣

I'm crying with laughter.

Mybumlooksbig · 19/01/2023 22:54

I was regularly watching my ex's new gfs Instagram and fb stories....had NOOOO idea she could see the people who had viewed until my friend said.... Cringe
