Peas are food, they have nutritional value in protein, carbs and vitamins and minerals. They are a perfectly acceptable part of a healthy diet.
Carbohydrates are food and is a healthy component of a healthy diet.
"Carbs are bad for your health. The nonsense is you thinking carbs are for eating. They are unnecessary. Do some research and wonder why the world is getting fatter and more unhealthy when people eat cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and pasta/rice/potato at dinner time."
If you're going to make claims like this the etiquette is to show your work. Don't tell other people to do their research, show yours!
Incidently, the NHS, the two main weight loss organisations in the UK, along with Diabetes UK, Heart UK, British Heart Foundation, the British government, the World Heath Organisation, The American CDC, BUPA, Age UK, Heart UK and the British Nutrition Foundation all list carbohydrates as part of a healthy diet.
Our brains need carbohydrate to function.
Carbohydrate plays a normal part of cell respiration. Whilst it's true that cells can produce energy without carbohydrates, there's a fair bit of evidence to suggest that solely relying on no carbs for cell respiration has negative long term health effects.
Moreover the studies showing the benefits of a carb free diet are short term - there's a fair bit of evidence to show that people just can't stick to them longer term.
Carbs are good for your health. Eating too many many carbs is a problem, I agree, particularly starchy carbs with inadequate protein/fat/fibre, and inadequate exercise.
"High carb veg like peas, carrots, corn, butternut squash don’t help."
it's not "high carb veg" like these that cause the metabolic problems associated with eating too many carbs. The ones you've mentioned contain fibre, vitamins and minerals and protein, important components of a healthy diet. It's too much white bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and sugar that are the carbs which are a problem, and again only then they are a problem if consumed in excess.
