Kate is an uppity narc I think. Deliberately uncooperative and rude as M&H took some of the spotlight when their relationship became public and in the run up to the wedding.

Why demand all dresses are remade when you could simply visit the tailor?

I think Kate was in the wrong. I also think it was a trivial incident and calling her a narc is way over the top.

BlackFriday · 09/01/2023 21:32

All I can say is that if that's the tone Meghan used in exchanges with staff members as well as to her sister-in-law, I can quite see why so many left her employ, citing bullying.

urbanbuddha · 09/01/2023 21:32

I honestly think someone very close to them is a mn.

I think that's charmingly naive of you.

It seems more like some of their PR team monitor social media and jump onto threads to try and steer the discussion.

I don't understand all the Kate hate - not one single person I know irl feels ire like theposter here who's just called her a "narc". But his or her attitude mirrors the position Harry takes in his book.

Kate said she had spoken to her tailor who said the dress needed remade . To be honest , it didn’t fit very well and the hem was uneven .

Blossomtoes · 09/01/2023 21:34

I think Kate was in the wrong.

Of course you do. If she knocked on your door and handed you a cheque for £1 million you’d still criticise her.

It is not bullying to be very stressed four days before your wedding.

And I guarantee if anyone had posted a thread on MN saying 4 days before my wedding and my SIL is kicking off about the bridesmaid dress her DD is wearing. She said it does not fit properly. I have found someone who will do alterations in time, but SIL wants a new dress made. Her dd is 3 years old.

It would have been almost 100% supporting the bride.

BradfordGirl · 09/01/2023 21:36

@Blossomtoes You do that a lot to various posters. I have defended Kate on another thread. So looks like you are wrong this time.

What I don’t understand is why there weren’t any fittings ? The dresses were made from measurements.

Well unless you’re a multi millionaire who had an atelier on stand by whi could remake it in about 2 hours?

Xenia · 09/01/2023 21:55

If those texts are the ones sent then I agree with this comment above "All I can say is that if that's the tone Meghan used in exchanges with staff members as well as to her sister-in-law, I can quite see why so many left her employ, citing bullying." Awful tone used by MM on the texts. It may just be a US/UK difference but it was very rude.

Coffeecreme · 09/01/2023 21:56

but Kate also was difficult. from what we can see from the texts.

She was three weeks post partum with two other children under five. I think most of us might have been a bit difficult under those circumstances.

PicturesOfDogs · 09/01/2023 22:10

Those weren’t all the texts, I think they were chopped a bit.

There is a bit (from the excerpt, haven’t read the book) which details that Kate explained she had spoken/shown it her to her own atelier, which wasn’t shown in the ‘mock up’

It’s hard to judge wither of them without reading in full I think

It was a trivial argument between two stressed women.

i agree
pointless that it was even shared.
although i understand the reasoning,
so many people are forgiving of KAte but not MEgan

As always I agree

Icecreamandapplepie · 09/01/2023 22:35

Yes, it was a trivial argument between two stressed women, but H and M are the ones outing it to the world. Which makes her less forgivable surely?

BethJ62 · 09/01/2023 22:39

If this had been about any other woman who had given birth 3 weeks before , can you imagine the reaction ? No doubt someone will comment about Kate having staff which is true but she was physically and mentally recovering from the birth.
Another thing which hasn’t really been touched on - Harry complained that William hadn’t stayed with him overnight before his wedding .. His wife had just had a baby and they had 2 other wee ones !

Link is still there from my Telegraph email. Yes it’s all really odd, - deranged mumsnetters, why not a comment saying deranged PH

Mentioning randoms on Mumsnet in comparison to extremely privileged and wealthy people in a similar kind of situation is called False Equivalence.

The two are not the same or directly comparable by a long shot. 🤦‍♂️

urbanbuddha · 10/01/2023 04:44

So Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, internationally known who expects one day to be Queen, had a 4 week old baby and a 3 year child who cried when she tried on her bridesmaid's dress. Doubtless Charlotte was expecting something princess-y. Fine, she's 3. Distract her. But here's the thing - she is an actual princess and the wedding will be seen worldwide. The dress is a mess - the shoulders and sleeves are too big, the neck doesn't sit properly, the waist seems... what? too low?, the hem 's a disaster, it doesn't appear to be lined. No way "couture". You could get better in H&M (irony, eh?). I'm not surprised Kate was upset. Sure Meghan's under pressure - a lot of pressure - but it's unhinged to be still bitching about it years later, especially given that Kate apologised with flowers.
I don't know what Meghan's problem with Kate is, but it seems really weird if this is the cause of the distance between them.

The irony! You're happy to bitch about the bridesmaid dress though, unbelievable.

It's hardly bitching to say the dress is a disaster. It is.
