To not like men wearing jewellery ... do you?

I don't mind a watch or wedding ring but don't like a necklace, bracelet or earring on a man.

I'm not a huge fan. When I met DH he used to wear a silver chain l(ike Connell's chain in Normal People) I didn't think much of it at the time but we were both young and lots of men were wearing them at the time , couldn't see him wearing one now-just a watch.

Neither DS has shown any sort of interest in any jewellery I can't really imagine either of them wearing any.

LoobyDop · 05/01/2023 19:30

Totally agree, OP, and I strongly suspect the necklace is the real reason Harry got the boot.

If it wasn’t, it should have been.

AlwaysGinPlease · 05/01/2023 19:31

Only a ring and watch. Cannot abide pierced ears on men.

Galarunner · 05/01/2023 19:32

I like it if its part of an alternative look. My son is really into punk and has a lot earrings, chains etc. He looks great , I suspect he won't dress like that when he is 30 but who knows. I don't really like expensive looking chains, watches, signet rings but it's up to the individual male or female.

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/01/2023 19:35

I don’t especially like it on adults other than a watch and wedding ring.

Teens and early twenties lads (several of the ones I know are devoted to endless wrapping of leather bands) I don’t mind.

TooBored1 · 05/01/2023 19:36

Not my body, not my concern.

DillDanding · 05/01/2023 19:39

I do. Both of my sons (19 and 23) wear bracelets from Pig & Hen. They look very cool on them.

Probably they’d look a bit tragic on a man over 40.

Ncgirlseriously · 05/01/2023 19:44

I’ve known a lot of punk/metal/biker types in my life, and I can’t say the rings/chains/earrings bothered me in the slightest.

I’d rather see a guy embrace the things he likes with a bit of jewellery than be with one of the types who is afraid to wear anything other than a watch lest they catch the Gay. (Obviously there’s a middle ground here of guys who just don’t like jewellery, and that’s fine- people should wear what they want).

NameIsBryceQuinlan · 05/01/2023 21:02

I think it looks great on some men!

Men in jewelry either look gay or common.

Fucking hell 🤦🏼‍♀️

Fairislefandango · 05/01/2023 21:24

Yeah, but we know that isn't true. If a bloke came on here and said he didn't find women who wear leggings and ugg boots attractive he'd be told to do one in no uncertain terms.

Maybe. Not by me though. I mean... I suppose starting a thread specifically to criticise a look you think is unattractive is a bit unnecessary, but there's nothing wrong with actually having the opinion or discussing it (unless you're making unpleasant judgements like "Men in jewelry either look gay or common." Hmm).

JackyinaTracky · 05/01/2023 21:49

100% depends on the man. Podgy middle aged bloke in the pub with his best bling…. No thanks.

But Damiano David…. Now him I even forgive the eyeliner! Makes my podgy middle aged heart skip a beat 😆

GimmeBiscuits · 05/01/2023 21:51

Depends on the person wearing it.

Angel0ftheMiddleEarth · 06/01/2023 00:21

Jason Momoa he wears lots of jewellery........mmmmm

LCforlife · 06/01/2023 00:27

I don't like loads of jewellery but some is nice.
A leather watch strap on a tanned wrist is gorgeous.

I quite like a nose ring on some guys and a nice silver ring but not one on every finger.

Nipple/genital piercings are a total turn off for me.

LosingSleepSince03 · 06/01/2023 01:00

I think some men suit a necklace/bracelet/ring. I don’t like piercings or watches on anyone.

LondonQueen · 06/01/2023 03:11

Everything but earrings are fine IMO.

thewinterwitch · 06/01/2023 03:18

I love it! Love the pearl earrings now, the old pirate earrings, a bit of eyeliner. Love it!

TomPinch · 06/01/2023 03:37

I'm surprised at the preference for bracelets over necklaces. I wear a wedding band and a plain cross round my neck. I rarely take either off. But I would feel tragic wearing a bracelet. To be fair, the necklace is generally invisible under clothes.

stopthebarking · 06/01/2023 03:55

No, not for me, either. I would deal with it if I found the man attractive otherwise, but it's not a look I love.

oceanskye · 06/01/2023 04:17

Piercings no, do not like piercings of any kind on guys. Rings and necklace - yes. Bracelet depends on the overall look.

Kevinyoutwat · 06/01/2023 04:27

I hate it.

I don’t wear any myself though, I never have done. I have a bit of a phobia about it. Cheap date though - I never wanted and engagement or wedding ring!

Dh insists on wearing a wedding ring, I can’t hold his hand. I hate the feeling of it.

I am odd though, jewellery on other people in general makes me feel ill.

Outtasteamandluck · 06/01/2023 04:36

I don't like it either.

creamwitheverything · 06/01/2023 05:25

A watch and a wedding ring will do me anything else nah !

CWeed · 06/01/2023 05:26

I might forgive a discreet necklace if it's a simple and classy design on a beautiful neck and chest.
No to earrings and bracelets. I like a traditional masculine, straight cut look. I don't fancy any of the men mentioned like Johnny Depp or Kravitz or Momoa for this very reason: too many accessories, too grubby looking and woo woo.
