I don't mind a watch or wedding ring but don't like a necklace, bracelet or earring on a man.

I don't really care either way. I just go by someone's overall look and whether it suits them. I couldn't get worked up about a man wearing a necklace or something.

MrsHughesPinny · 05/01/2023 12:19

Depends on the man and depends on the jewellery.

I love a nose ring on a man, and leather and silver jewellery. Chunky gold would be a massive turnoff though.

NorthStarRising · 05/01/2023 12:20

Everyone has personal preferences, provided you don’t impose yours on others, it’s just an opinion.
I like some jewellery on people, depends on the jewellery. Like tattoos. But whether they’re male or female doesn’t matter to me.

Completely up to them. Feels weirdly sexist / stereotypey to make any declarations on what men should or shouldn’t wear on the basis that they’re men.

Don't go looking for sexism where there is none. I don't like blokes to wear jewellery. Wouldn't like them in make up either.

I don’t mind the odd tasteful necklace (like a cross or cultural symbol) but otherwise I’m not a fan of jewellery on men (I don’t even wear any myself).

daisyjgrey · 05/01/2023 12:47

"A bull nose ring".

Fml.

Sunnytwobridges · 05/01/2023 12:53

I love it, except piercings in places other than the ears and chunky rings.

Herejustforthisone · 05/01/2023 13:16

I find it weirdly off-putting also. My H doesn’t wear a wedding ring and I wouldn’t want him to. But then, I don’t either.

TedMullins · 05/01/2023 13:21

Depends on the man. I love rocker type men with nose rings and jewellery (also a fan of men in eyeliner and nail polish) but posh finance men in signet rings give me the ick. Similarly I like a trendy guy in a slim gold chain but a tracksuit-clad man in a thick chain wouldn’t do it for me.

No one is saying it’s not completely up to them. Can’t you tell the difference between enforcement and opinion? I personally find men covered in jewellery extremely off-putting. Do I think society should punish men for wearing jewellery? No. Don’t be mental.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to post.

Hopelessacademic · 05/01/2023 13:27

I quite like men in jewellery.
I prefer more subtle stuff but I think that looks better on women too.
I also don't mind them in makeup or skirts tbh, just don't tell me that makes you a woman.
Sadly my DH won't evern wear a watch or wedding ring lol

IncompleteSenten · 05/01/2023 13:28

I don't care.
Unless they've nicked them from me of course. Then I'd be pissed off.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 05/01/2023 13:29

Not a fan either. I mean, it can look good on Surfer types but few and far between.

And I detest nose piercings on anyone.

Emmamoo89 · 05/01/2023 13:32

My partner has one earring in and doesn't bother me. I think a nipple piercing on a man is v sexy

Luckycatt · 05/01/2023 13:48

I love it!

NegroniLover · 05/01/2023 13:48

For me it entirely depends on the man & the jewellery in question. I have an ex who wears jewellery & it 100% suits him & his look.
One the other hand dh wears only his wedding ring (white gold, matching mine in material but not design) he has beautiful hands & it suits him really well. I have 4 square diamonds on my wedding ring & dh has one small diamond inside his ring which I love. I've never seem him wear any other jewellery in our 20 years together

Grendalsmum · 05/01/2023 13:56

Bit sexist. People can wear what they like. I don't like spacers on anyone, though - but that's just me!

OoooohMatron · 05/01/2023 14:25

I once dated a man with an earring. He was really fit and a lovely guy but I absolutely hated the earring. The one thing I could never tolerate would be a nipple piercing, vom.

notawittyname1954 · 05/01/2023 14:30

completely depends on the person. Suits some and not others. And what clothes they are wearing with it.

magicstar1 · 05/01/2023 14:32

I love certain types. DH is a biker and wears chunky rings, a neck chain, a few chains told hold wallet, keys etc. He rattles when he walks lol, but I love the style.
I think Johnny Depp’s style is gorgeous too.

Nobody says you have to like it - of course it’s totally up to you. But if this was reversed and a forum of men was saying “don’t like women wearing trousers / having short hair / not wearing makeup” then it would feel rather sexist. And I’m sure plenty of men do say this. And I think they’d be sexist for doing so.

NeverGonnaNot · 05/01/2023 15:14

I don’t like it. Not overkeen on jewellery full stop. I went out with a bloke once who wore a thumb ring and I couldn’t work out why as it looked daft and didn’t suit his image at all.

Well probably, and this is just a wild stab in the dark, because he wanted to.

Cam22 · 05/01/2023 17:42

Loathe it. Ugh
