I don't mind a watch or wedding ring but don't like a necklace, bracelet or earring on a man.

Completely up to them. Feels weirdly sexist / stereotypey to make any declarations on what men should or shouldn’t wear on the basis that they’re men.

It's not about saying what they should wear though. Men can wear whatever the hell they like. But it is totally fine women (and indeed other men) to find them attractive or not attractive as a result.

Roselilly36 · 05/01/2023 17:53

I agree, DH has never worn jewellery, not even a watch. Never worn his wedding ring, due to his job.

Woodenheart33 · 05/01/2023 17:56

I don't like it either and find it a turn off. I also dislike tattoos, nail polish, make up, long hair, overly groomed beard or hair. But I'm also sure they don't care what I think but since you ask its all a turn off.

Bbq1 · 05/01/2023 17:57

I really like it on Dh. He wears a couple of chains and bracelets. Stylish and quite individual, very him. I'm not bothered if other men wear it. If it looks fine and they are happy with it, then good.

GSat · 05/01/2023 18:02

Nothing wrong with OP's post, it's all personal preference. Of course everybody can wear what they want, just as everybody can find. different things attractive...

RambamThankyouMam · 05/01/2023 18:04

Men in jewelry either look gay or common.

inappropriateraspberry · 05/01/2023 18:08

Not keen. Not really a fan of wedding rings on men either - happy with a watch though!

HarvestThyme · 05/01/2023 18:11

Depends on the man and the jewelry. Lots of men look good in it. Plenty do not.

PyramidGl0w · 05/01/2023 18:16

Do I like men wearing jewellery ?

Yes, especially if they are a pirate !

Yeah, but we know that isn't true. If a bloke came on here and said he didn't find women who wear leggings and ugg boots attractive he'd be told to do one in no uncertain terms.

MaryJean87 · 05/01/2023 18:34

A stud in the ear can look sexy. Don't like anything else.

MokaEfti · 05/01/2023 18:36

I used to like my DH in his necklace, but unfortunately it got broken when his brother pushed him onto a porcelain dog bowl, so I think from now on I will be the only one in this relationship sporting the jewellery. Mainly tiaras etc.

😂
That winalot of laughs from me.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 05/01/2023 18:39

Depends on the jewellery and the man!

CharitySchmarity · 05/01/2023 18:41

It depends on the jewellery. I sometimes like it if it is silver, titanium or leather, never gold, and I don't like signet rings. My DH usually only wears his watch and a silver ring with a wave pattern on it that I bought him years ago because his original wedding ring was too loose, but he occasionally wears a couple of leather wristbands when he's dressed down. He hasn't got any piercings (he doesn't like them). I don't dislike it when men have one ear pierced but always think it looks a bit odd when they have both ears pierced, although I recognise that that's sexist of me.

willowbow · 05/01/2023 18:41

I don't like jewellery generally on men, especially a lot of bracelets or earrings.I don't mind a subtle ring so much. Though I do have an inexplicable liking for a tiny ring on the little finger on men, though I don't know of anyone who's ever worn one. I know that's not usually liked on Mumsnet either.

catsonahottinroof · 05/01/2023 18:46

Like a lot of things it depends on the man and his individual style. I don't like lots of chunky gold jewellery, in general I don't mind rings or silver bracelets. Don't really like earrings on men - not sure why.

I'm glad I didn't say that!

pictoosh · 05/01/2023 18:49

I don't want to feel this way and wish I didn't but when I see a man wearing a necklace I assume he must be a wanker.

WildRosie · 05/01/2023 18:54

As much as I don't really care for men wearing jewellery, it's possible for both sexes to overdo it. A young lady I see often has five piercings in each ear plus two in her right nostril. With all that metal on her mush, she could easily pass for a Cyberwoman on the set of Doctor Who.

Shunkleisshiny · 05/01/2023 18:55

No, my husband wears a watch and that's it.

MokaEfti · 05/01/2023 19:07

@willowbow that's a signet ring you're referring to - usually a bit posh because IME tends to have family coat of arms on it.

Iamblossom · 05/01/2023 19:13

Both my teen boys wear two silver chain necklaces and I think they look great in them.

My husband wears a silver bangle. I dont really like him in a necklace though.

louderthan · 05/01/2023 19:19

A simple silver chain and a silver ring in the ear: yes please. Not keen on anything more than that really

Thanks. That makes sense as I think I saw someone wearing one a few years ago and liked it, as I can still picture it. It was tiny.
