To ask what you order from the Chinese?

DH and I have a tradition of always getting a Chinese takeaway on 1st Jan, and this year for the first time we're extending it to the kids too.

So, just that really, what is your go to order? I'm looking for inspiration. DH always has a chow mein (lovely but boring as he has it every time), DS has already requested sweet and sour chicken and DD will probably have some sort of fried rice or maybe chicken satay.

I eat almost anything and am starving, help me decide what to have oh wise mumsnetters!

That should say has anyone had Singapore chow mein before does it come with meat/prawns in? No description on the menu!

Lemon chicken, crispy chilli beef, chow mein, egg fried rice, salt and pepper chips and maybe spring rolls or seaweed.

I live alone, so beef fried rice and make oven chips at home.

We would order a good mix from the menu too - I love having a little of everything and find it very bland and boring when if out for a meal others just order x and y - there's a wealth of wonderful flavours to enjoy and this is the best way to try something new. Never been nuts (lol!) about cashew dishes but have loved some of the spicier dishes that I would have otherwise avoided.
We have a very good local oriental chinese restaurant that offers all you can eat from a running buffet which is topped up regularly.

Special fried rice, seaweed and satay sauce. Also love chill beef/chicken and honey chicken

Half a portion chicken chow mein
Half a portion egg fried rice
Portion of chips
3 chicken balls and a choice of either curry sauce, sweet n sour or BBQ sauce.

We're having Salmon, Broccoli and new potatoes for tea, but I really fancy a Chinese now 😋

We are creatures of habit and usually order:
Sesame Prawn Toast
Mini spring rolls
Salt and pepper Squid
Chicken Satay
Lemon Chicken
Crispy chilli beef
Egg fried rice
Prawn crackers.

We also like peking duck pancakes, beef in black bean sauce, chicken and cashews and Yuk Shung, all delicious - our local takeaway is amazing.

I prefer an Indian or Thai though.

Salt and chilli broccoli which would be my death row meal I love it so much - along with salt and chilli anything - chicken, prawn, chips

I get crab and sweetcorn or hot and sour soup, prawn toast and crab claws. Then mushroom foo yung and fried rice or special fried rice and bbq sauce.

S&S chicken HK style, duck pancakes, king prawn with ginger and spring onion, pak choi with garlic, special fried rice, plain rice, seaweed, prawn crackers and sometimes also Singapore noodles, chicken satay and prawn toast if we are feeling greedy and we’ve just been paid. If we’re eating Chinese out and they do dim sum I also love those little pork and prawn steamed ones.

I love the starters so we tend to go for either a mixed starter platter or satay chicken, ribs, salt and pepper wings (or just salt and pepper chicken) and maybe some prawn toast, then a special fried rice to share.

Otherwise go-to dishes are chicken curry, ginger and spring onion chicken, beef and mushrooms, mixed meats in garlic and oyster sauce and crispy duck if we're really splashing out!
