To ask what you order from the Chinese?

DH and I have a tradition of always getting a Chinese takeaway on 1st Jan, and this year for the first time we're extending it to the kids too.

So, just that really, what is your go to order? I'm looking for inspiration. DH always has a chow mein (lovely but boring as he has it every time), DS has already requested sweet and sour chicken and DD will probably have some sort of fried rice or maybe chicken satay.

I eat almost anything and am starving, help me decide what to have oh wise mumsnetters!

Tofu in black bean sauce - boiled rice
DH - sweet and sour chicken egg fried rice and noodles, sometimes ribs

Sometimes I will have mock duck too. The above is for just 2 of us but we do have it for 2 meals 😀

Side of bamboo shoots, prawn toast and spring rolls.
My local Chinese gives a bag of prawn crackers complimentary.

We’ve just decided to get a Chinese takeaway for tea tonight. On the order is:

crispy seaweed
tofu and cashews in yellow bean sauce
sweet and sour king prawn balls
mushroom foo yung
vegetable chow mein
crispy spicy fish
prawn crackers

i have also made an aubergine and potato Chinese dish that our local has stopped doing but is delicious and I’ve realised quite easy to make
plus veg spring rolls from our freezer and will cook rice
cant wait!

We always have Chinese on the 2nd before everyone goes back to work 🥰 can't wait! I love Chinese!

We usually get -

Mixed sharing starter for 2 to share - prawn toast, spring rolls, seaweed, crispy salt and chilli wings, BBQ ribs, satay chicken skewers

DH gets Chicken volcano - like a spicy sweet and sour chicken

I get salt and chilli shredded chicken with satay sauce

Then share a fried rice, and chips

It's a lot of food but it will do us 2 meals. Will usually freeze leftovers and we just heat it up, and dish out what it left between us. It's such a treat getting a 2nd takeaway without having to pay again haha!

Just ordered ours... salt and chilli chicken, salt and chilli chips, char Sui with ginger and spring onions, beef and king prawn curry, chow mien, egg fried rice and prawn crackers.

King prawn tempura with wasabi mayo. Mushroom Chinese curry, egg fried rice, prawn crackers. Broccoli in garlic sauce.

Last night we pushed the boat out and ordered sesame prawn toast and veg spring rolls as well, but saved them and ate them at midnight with Bellinis.

It's all got that msg stuff in I think so tastes quite similar and gloopy

My DP is currently making us wonton and noodle soup, steamed dumplings (har kau and char siu bao) and ma po tofu.
Its like having the takeaway in my own kitchen :)

Salt and pepper king prawns, vegetable chow mein, curry sauce. Also love mixed vegetables in black bean sauce - one particular Chinese near me does the nicest black bean sauce I've ever had, it's not a bit sweet and it's fantastic.

DH will have crispy chilli chicken and chips, maybe ribs in ok sauce, and sometimes special sweet and sour.

Child is toddler so has never had a Chinese takeaway but loves it when I make tempura prawns! 🤣

Our local does the BEST chicken fried rice and plain noodles with generous and onions. We also offer crispy duck in plum sauce and pancake rolls.
