Quite attractive? I'm a 30 year old woman so he is a little out of my usual age range but there's something about him I find really attractive. Maybe it's an attraction due to how clever the man is, I'm not sure. I can't be alone in this?

OP posts:

Hmm. On the other hand it is interesting how keen his supporters are for people to spend a lot of time listening to all he says before having an opinion. Often I find that it's relatively easy to gauge if you want to read or listen more to someone by looking at articles, interviews, quotations. It gives you a sense of where they're coming from and then you can investigate more if you're interested. I don't generally feel that the media are conspiring to hide the truth about people so effectively as to make it impossible to form an initial judgement in this way. Yet some posters seem to be saying that anyone who has done this just needs to read more to be convinced. Well, I have read more and I'm not convinced. I think he's plausible and articulate but I don't think he's going in a direction I admire (his earlier writing was less inflammatory). He's a climate change denier which doesn't signal a deep thinker to me, and his views on me and women have the kind of soundbite quality of a more sophisticated Andrew Tate. So not fanciable at all to answer the original question of the vanishing OP. This thread has the feel of something set up to advertise him though so I shouldn't bite...

No I don't. But when I'm listening to him it's good to verify that I am not spending my life in echo chambers. Sometimes it helps refine my own opposing point of view sometimes I find his opinion on a said subject oddly interesting.

whataboutism · 31/12/2022 19:10

He is not always wrong.

whataboutism · 31/12/2022 19:11

His questions are relevant.

Titsywoo · 31/12/2022 19:13

Something about him doesn't sit right with me. Lots of his comments about women have misogynistic undertones and he seems like he is about to explode with emotion a lot of the time - I can't tell if he is going to cry or hit someone though.

I think he's brilliant. Hes helped change my life, at home but especially at work.

I hated him at first when I heard clips my partner would play in the background about 5 or 6 years ago.
Fell for the shocking quotes and snippets taken out of context. Took the time to really listen to him and read up on him and as I said he's helped my life in so many ways and opened my mind to so many things.
People treat me differently now based on how much more assertive I've become the difference in remarkable.

Some women are thick enough to not understand this, that’s the issue
Comments like this I have to laugh at. Of course anyone with a different opinion MUST be thick. I'll have to remember that next time I disagree with somebody.

This. I’ve spent significant time understanding his perspective and not just listening to a few soundbites on the internet. It’s depressing how he’s lumped in with incels.

HildaHedgehog · 31/12/2022 23:43

Not gonna lie, I'd do him too. I feel a little bad about that, but it's still true.

Firstbornunicorn · 01/01/2023 00:16

And there I was, thinking that the only person who fancied Jordan Peterson was Jordan Peterson.

He's a pseudo-intellectual misogynist. I'm not sure what's sexy about that.

Exactly this

Arseulaundress · 01/01/2023 14:48

He denies Patriarchy is a thing.

Anyone who needs that answered won’t agree with the examples given so it becomes a water of time. JP denies the past existence of patriarchy too, he reckons everyone had it bad back in the day.

Sometimes you realise that the reason men and women will never be equals is because so many women are happy and willing to do the work for patriarchy to thrive. They're drawn to it almost magnetically. Isn't JP just so fit??? He might be a raging misogynist but my god have you seen those grey wirey hairs <3 <3

Definitely agree about the pseudo intellectual. I think the misogyny has been slightly exaggerated though. He also seems mentally unwell at the moment, with a history of substance abuse. Also seems to be permanently depressed. For all of those reasons I would happily give him a miss. Who needs that in your life?

countbackfromten · 01/01/2023 16:18

I would rather eat my own spleen.

Notimeforaname · 01/01/2023 16:20

What does patriarchy, in western culture, look like to you? Can you give some examples of that?

Anyone who needs that answered won’t agree with the examples given so it becomes a water of time. JP denies the past existence of patriarchy too, he reckons everyone had it bad back in the day.

Ah answer it anyway if you can, I like to hear all sides.

Also, by this, do you mean it's a waste of time speaking with someone if they wont definitely agree with you ? 🤣

LynneBenfield · 01/01/2023 16:31

I won’t fight you for him, OP. He and his backward opinions revolt me.
