And vampires, ghosts, skeletons, monsters....

But mainly witches. She is also saying happy Halloween a lot...

Is this strange ? My husband is concerned.. me, less so.

So what's brought on the fascination?

So what's brought on the fascination?

Since Halloween I think. And she's watched a few of those Steve and Maggie videos on YouTube.

No all my kids went through the spooky fascination at about that age. They've managed not to turn in to die hard goths or satanists so far 😅

Ludo19 · 29/12/2022 19:17

Ah and she's 3 so she'll understand a bit more. I wouldn't be that concerned if I'm honest, it's a wee fascination for her and it'll run its course.

Beachsidesunset · 29/12/2022 19:17

Steve and Maggie is brilliant! Love it 😀

BeautifulWar · 29/12/2022 19:18

My DD was the same at that age. A few years on, she still loves Halloween but isn't obsessed.

Crackof · 29/12/2022 19:19

Cool! Teach her loads about it, and all the things people believe. She'll end up a philosopher or something!

MarysGirlChildWasLate4ChristmasDay · 29/12/2022 19:19

Fascination with imaginary beings is bang in line with three year olds milestones. At this age they can't really accurately distinguish between reality and fantasy and discussing them, playing games etc will help contextualize it.

Rather than be worried, be pleased your child is developing imaginative skills as they should.

This is why tooth fairy, Santa etc occur across cultures. It's human nature to gravitate towards fantasy, and our culture would be poorer without it.

Babsexxx · 29/12/2022 19:19

No hillarious my little girl anted a Halloween birthday ever year x

Todaynotalways · 29/12/2022 19:20

I suspect it's because they're "scary" and therefore quite thrilling to think about. And by expressing it outwardly with you guys, it makes them feel safe.

ILoveeCakes · 29/12/2022 19:20

So?

Hardly messing with ouija boards is she?

Mind, don't let her watch The Witches as it "teaches" kids that anyone with limb deformities/injuries is a witch............

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 29/12/2022 19:21

Wait till she’s 8 and makes cemeteries out of Jenga blocks in Christmas Day <fond memories>

LouS84 · 29/12/2022 19:22

My youngest went through a phase about that age of talking a lot about ‘bad witches’, we had to try not to laugh as she was still pronouncing ‘w’ as a ‘b’ back then… 🤣

My husband hates it and is really concerned. I was wondering if I was too relaxed about it, as I'm not concerned.

My just turned 3 year is the same! Ever since he discovered Steve & Maggie on YouTube his fav things are all ghosts, witches and Halloween stuff Smile

CoalCraft · 29/12/2022 19:26

Why does your husband hate it? I'm genuinely struggling to see what he doesn't like about it.

Most three year olds are obsessed with something, whether it's dinosaurs, trucks, princesses, horses... Or indeed witches.

I really don't get what he's unhappy about?

My 3 year old is fascinating with death lately so I'd happily take witches over that!

He just thinks it's scary for her and will give her nightmares

She could equally have been into fairies in the garden. Like boys like dinosaurs and tractors. It's fine I'd say. You could balance dark witches by mentioning the idea of white witches?

Btw - Wasn't the idea of a "witch" often a male/religious way to label women they didn't like or who practised natural medicine? The concept - and many women - have been spectacularly abused in the past on the back of such labels. But that's a discussion for another day!

TangoAcid · 29/12/2022 19:28

What is your husband concerned about though? She's just a toddler, learning about the world. Shes not a satanist. Yet. More concerning is your husbands reaction to it to be honest.

Newuser82 · 29/12/2022 19:29

My three year old is obsessed with mummies, they are funny little people. I'm sure she is fine.

justasking111 · 29/12/2022 19:31

Mine loved reading the meg and Mog series with me at this age. It's normal

MeinKraft · 29/12/2022 19:31

As soon as I saw this I wondered if she'd been watching Steve and Maggie Grin he has so much Halloween content! Bet her speech is amazing though, my kids have learned so much from those videos!

I'm much older than 3 but I've become very fond of shabtis after finding out that in the afterlife they were there to carry out tasks for the dead after recitation of a special spell - a sort of ancient Egytian Alexa.
