And vampires, ghosts, skeletons, monsters....

But mainly witches. She is also saying happy Halloween a lot...

Is this strange ? My husband is concerned.. me, less so.

My DD has a small broomstick and I got her to put it in between her legs, pretending she's a witch.. she's always doing it now.. her dad is so angry about it Grin

I'd use this as the perfect chance to springboard on to new reading material
Meg and Mog
Winnie the Witch - pictures books and started chapter books
Funny Bones
Room on a Broom.
Witch Wars
Starfell
Worst Witch
Vlad the Drac - my own childhood favourite

As she gets a little older Cressida Cowell Wizards of Once series and then Harry Potter

I have always loved all things witchy, I'm not pagan it's just magical and about having powers. No one thinks twice about a boy who wants to be a superhero.

It's not until I was older and really cottoned on to the fact the stereotypical green face, knarly fingers, dirty torn clothes was because it was about the poor real women who had been tortured and mistreated often for months in dungeons away from sunlight that gave them a greenish pallor and broken fingers etc.

Although adding to my above post I also teach chemistry, have two black cats, a pond full of frogs and a wildflower garden full of medicinal and edible plants. Below is a drawing my DD made of me earlier this year... So maybe the witchy phase lasted longer than I thought.

My
2 year old keeps pretending to be a zombie because of that Steve and Maggie. God I hate them. And there's a million Halloween episodes, that's why

Thank you so much, this is an amazing idea. She likes reading books that are about things she is interested in. So she really loves Peppa big and Ben and holly books. Her absolute favourite book is ' my mummy '. It's all about her mummy. She doesn't like just random books. So this is a great idea, as she will definitely be interested. ( her dad will not like it though ).

Re witches - I studied this a bit at uni in history class ( I don't remember that much ), but what you're saying makes sense and is what I remember about it..

Beautiful pic your DD painted ! You must be so proud. Smile

My daughter is nearly 8. She has been into creepy things since she was about 3, too. She had a 'pet' plastic crow, she adopted any spider we saw, loves witches and vampires and mummies and magic. I adore her creepy, spooky little mind. It's a hilarious contrast to the blonde, dimpled, sparkly exterior. I have no doubt she'll be a goth when she's old enough. I'd prefer that to the plastic princess barbie shite she gets fed at her dad's.

(Now we're getting drawings of slutty witches. Thanks ExH.)

You keep embracing her as the creative and independent little human she is and tell your DH to stop being weird about it. You can't have children and then expect them to only like what you think they should like and do what you want them to do.

My son developed a fascination with ghosts around that age (I cannot remember what triggered it) but many months on and he still loves to walk around with sheets on his head making ‘spooky’ ghost noises. We, of course, join in and are very ‘scared’, adding to the fun, which is why I think he still dies it. I’ve never been concerned and actually like that my son has a good imagination and enjoys pretend play. 😊
