Am I too old for this?

I've just realised that at home I always go upstairs on all fours, hands and feet. I never walk upstairs like a grown person, always crawl like a lion.

Although I do walk downstairs like a human.

What do you do that you really are too old to still be doing?

My ds (4) recently taught me to jump over the bit of pavement where there are dropped kerbs on a down hill road we walk on to nursery everyday. He says it feels like you are flying and he’s right it kind of does. So now we both run down that road leaping over all the dropped kerbs. I must look absolutely ridiculous 🤣

Walking along balancing on low walls, raised path edges etc.
47 🙂

Me too! Age 55

I get ridiculously excited by snow. I love penny sweets and glittery sparkly things. I’ve got a baby son and I can’t wait to climb things with him and relive my childhood 😁 being childish and silly is life affirming.

I am quite sad that I can no longer twirl round and round in a circle like I did as a child as I get a migraine 🙄

LadyBiker · 28/12/2022 22:21

I love to stamp my feet in a sun-baked cowpat. Also do the four-limbs climb upstairs if my back aches.

OrangeVelour · 28/12/2022 22:26

I think I'm going to make a point of doing some of these things myself (apart from the cartwheel one)!

SoShallINever · 28/12/2022 22:27

I can't resist all the play equipment at a park. See saws, swings, zip wires, slides, climbing frame, I love them all.
Also playing football with any kids that will let me join in. I'm 54.

Itsmysocalledlife · 28/12/2022 22:33

Never walk on all 3 drains, always miss the last one because.. bad luck! And when I’m on my own, doing housework or whatever, I don’t talk myself though what I’m doing, I sing-song it. But mostly I still slide up and down my living room floor with my socks on 😂

If I have a packet of Hula-Hoops, I have to put them on my fingers and eat them off each finger one at a time

GroggyLegs · 28/12/2022 22:47

Essentially I have a full inner life
This is a beautiful thought @Purplechicken207 I love that we all have our own little things that make us happy.

In fact, this whole thread is a joy.

I have to check use by dates as part of my job & I get a little buzz from finding my birthday 😂
I also love sports & games & moving.
I was on the climbing frame and the saucer swing at the park earlier.
If you're able, why wouldn't you?!

OrDebach · 28/12/2022 22:47

I’m 42 and I always run up the stairs at home, like leap 3 at a time, walking up them seems to just take too long!

MrsJBaptiste · 28/12/2022 22:50

Listen to Bounce Heaven downloads.

I'm 20 years too old for happy hardcore but love it!!!

As does my 18 year old son... 😬

Ozgirl75 · 28/12/2022 22:56

Me and my mum and dad (respectively 45, 76,76) all eat things by nibbling off the edge and separating each section out (my mum does this excellently with tunnocks tea cakes and is left with the marshmallow). When we go there, my kids will do things like eat a Kit Kat without even breaking the rows - like, they’ll eat two fingers together whilst staring at them straight in the eye, while my parents feign horror at the “monsters” we’ve raised.

Ozgirl75 · 28/12/2022 22:57

I can even do this with a carrot - nibble off the outside and you’re left with the nice inside bit.

Identifyingasadolphin · 28/12/2022 23:15

Cartwheels and handstands - in the swimming pool.

Reluctantly given up the stuntman sized trampoline due to a metal knee, (however I did catch my 80 year old MIL drag a chair and climb on it herself)

Been known to take a full sized garden spade to the seaside and build substantial sand castles with ramparts and everything…and also throw a strop when young dads with kids try and take over as the tide comes in 🤣

Off to try the stairs on all fours thing now…

Omg I used to do this! I'd forgotten about it. The middle bit is so sweet!

I really want to collect a range of dolls called Tonner dolls from the US . They're terribly elegant and there are Gothic ones. They have amazing outfits and tiny shoes and bags and jewellery and I want to live vicariously through them. Out of my price range but I often look at pictures on Google and dream......

Diedre44 · 29/12/2022 00:23

If I get an ultra soft fresh white sliced loaf I'm utterly compelled to peel the crust as thinly as possible from top and sides of slice of bread and swallow it whole no chewing and pick at the rest of the slice and roll bits into doughy little marble size balls and again swallow them whole. The bottom crust goes in the bin.
Really weird but done it since very young, I don't know why.

echt · 29/12/2022 00:59

OP, you've reminded me of how I used to go upstairs as a child. Smile

Also running down (empty) aisles at Bunnings with a trolley and sliding, though this requires specific shoes.
Using the zip wire when the park's empty.

I'm 68.
