Am I too old for this?

I've just realised that at home I always go upstairs on all fours, hands and feet. I never walk upstairs like a grown person, always crawl like a lion.

Although I do walk downstairs like a human.

What do you do that you really are too old to still be doing?

I suck my thumb when tired🤣

I sucked my thumb up to the age of 10 and used to get so much comfort from it. I only stopped cos I was embarrassed to still be doing it at that age. Wish I could get that comfort now from suckling my adult thumbGrin

I love galloping

OK, which one of you is Miranda?

Talaforniababe · 28/12/2022 15:00

You crawl up the stairs on all fours? WTF? 😂I don't know anyone over three that does that.

Well you may not know them but at least another five people have said they do it too. Make that six, so do I!

2catsandhappy · 28/12/2022 15:02

I wasn't allowed posters on my bedroom wall as a girl. Very happy with my framed signed Adam Ant poster in my sitting room.

MsJuniper · 28/12/2022 15:02

Glad to hear I am not the only dangly-thing-botherer.

Zanatdy · 28/12/2022 15:03

Lol I used to do this for years, only now if I’m hungover!

darisdet · 28/12/2022 15:05

I think I definitely do things I wasn't allowed to do as a child. @2catsandhappy

Not that I had a particular strict upbringing, but the 'cake as a meal' would have been disapproved of.

squashyhat · 28/12/2022 15:08

I love clearing leaves away from drain gratings and watching the water gush down after heavy rain. Also clearing stick and leaf dams from small steams.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 28/12/2022 15:36

If i have to something that involves boring standing (toothbrushing, washing up, ironing), i’ll balance on one leg in the manner of the karate kid or a prima ballerina. I am neither of these things.

TattiePants · 28/12/2022 15:38

I think I’m regressing back to teenage years as I didn’t get up till 2pm today.

OohThatCat · 28/12/2022 15:40

I still do that with stairs too!!

Sixsmith · 28/12/2022 15:40

scrumpledtitskin · 28/12/2022 13:06

@msjuniper and me!

@sixsmith I go up stairs like that too, and I also always lean over the trolley handles in supermarkets and scoot along

Yes! I still run and then lean onto the trolley to coast

You don't know what you're missing.

I can remember doing this until I was about 8 years old! I admire you OP for still being abttk do this as an adult!

Purplechicken207 · 28/12/2022 15:45

When not carrying a child I often run up the stairs imagining I'm a velociraptor from jurassic park 🤷‍♀️😂
On travelators I like to imagine I'm the bad terminator in T2, running after the others - hands pointing forwards like blades instead of loose hands.
And I take off my socks by pushing feet down to the floor and sliding back so my feet come straight out.
I make up silly little spur of the moment lyrics to songs stuck in my head all the time at home.
I talk to animals I meet while out walking (cats, birds etc) but avoid eye contact with people 😂
And yes I still have a teddy in bed, and take him if I stay away from home.
Essentially I have a full inner life 😂

TheChosenTwo · 28/12/2022 15:47

I did a cartwheel in the office the other day as I was bored 😳

KimberleyClark · 28/12/2022 15:47

I wish I could still skip - not with a rope I mean - but my dodgy knees aren’t up to it any more!

My podiatrist says this is really good for your feet. It will help you to keep a good sense of balance and prevent you falling in old age.

Purplechicken207 · 28/12/2022 15:48

Oh and make dodedoodedoooo noises through empty kitchen/toilet roll tubes. Obvs

So that you don't stick your neck out and get it chopped off!

Recently discovered the pedestrianised bit of my town has bins that actually say "Thank you for using me" when you pull the flap and put your rubbish in. I had to try all 6 of them on the way up the road, much to the amusement of my companion who is around 30. I am 53. And I was really sad that only one worked.

So I also have form for trying out all toys / decorations etc that operate by pressing a button in shop displays.

I'd be a total liability in a situation where there was an important button that says "Do not push".

I do this

Strange but I don't see this as child like after toddler age. More like an older person or someone who struggles with walking properly.
