Am I too old for this?

I've just realised that at home I always go upstairs on all fours, hands and feet. I never walk upstairs like a grown person, always crawl like a lion.

Although I do walk downstairs like a human.

What do you do that you really are too old to still be doing?

If i have to something that involves boring standing (toothbrushing, washing up, ironing), i’ll balance on one leg in the manner of the karate kid or a prima ballerina. I am neither of these things.

That is meant to be really good for balance and strengthening muscles

You crawl up the stairs on all fours? WTF? 😂I don't know anyone over three that does that.

You have no idea what fun you're missing.

Paddling and rockpooling without children. I do occasionally wonder what I look like, but I don't care much.

Willmafrockfit · 28/12/2022 17:13

Recently discovered the pedestrianised bit of my town has bins that actually say "Thank you for using me" when you pull the flap and put your rubbish in. I had to try all 6 of them on the way up the road, much to the amusement of my companion who is around 30. I am 53. And I was really sad that only one worked.

So I also have form for trying out all toys / decorations etc that operate by pressing a button in shop displays.

I'd be a total liability in a situation where there was an important button that says "Do not push".

I got asked told to leave a charity shop for doing that Grin

A while ago I was in Tescos after a really shit week at work, and faced with an empty aisle I ran with the trolley, then jumped on the back and rode it down the aisle whispering weeeeeeeeeeeeeee as I went. Only to crash into my immaculately dressed elegant boss at the end of the aisle who looked at me as though I was actually insane.

verabarbleen · 28/12/2022 17:46

When I put my one and three year old to bed I stick my bum out on the way out the door and fake fart my way out 😂 rude but they find it funny

NoNamesLeft234678 · 28/12/2022 17:53

I use kids cutlery as I don't like metal one's
I talk in a 'baby voice' sometimes but think it's autism related as it's when I can't adult anymore and at home/with people I'm close to
I dip mcdonald's fries in ice cream
I get excited if I see fair rides

Tothemoonandbackx · 28/12/2022 17:54

I still can't resist blowing the paper away from the straw if I'm ever having a McDonalds or Burger King, or anywhere that does them like that. But I've got to do it directly in who ever I'm withs face......much to their well deserved annoyance. When ever I need wrapping paper, I've got to use the tube like a lightsabre a couple of times and when I need a new tong for the kitchen, I have to give it a couple of clicks first 😂

ohyouknowwhatshername · 28/12/2022 17:59

I have to switch on all the noisy Christmas ornaments when I'm in Homebase in the run up to Christmas. Then I walk / run away from the aisle as if it wasn't me.

Chew the end of my pencil. Read on the loo ( absolutely banned. - to no avail - by my mother ) I’m seventy, and I still feel guilty.

Why is reading on the loo banned? I insist on having a bookshelf in my toilet!

I like kids sweets like jelly tots. I also love looking at the toys and dolls in the supermarket and imagine playing with them. I play with a bouncy ball in the kitchen and am a sucker for the sparkly things in Claire's stores and buy things for my cat's dining area. I'm 52 🤦

Oh my goodness, my cat needs a "dining area"! And all the better if it sparkles!

Back on topic - I, like a PP, run everywhere. Not a proper run, just a trot. If I get out of my car to go into a shop, or if I need to pay for petrol, I trot. Not sure I will ever stop TBH. I also go upstairs in twos. For efficiency

evemillbank · 28/12/2022 18:08

I moonwalk out of my socks every night.

YouWouldNotBelieveIt · 28/12/2022 18:15

Walking down the hallway at home moving my arms like I'm an old steam train. No idea why. Mid-forties.

I love this 😂😂😂

Dontsayyouloveme · 28/12/2022 21:57

I do lots of random stuff but I make daft noises.. I’ve only met two other people that do it, one was my brother and the other I dated for 18 months. He was the male version of me, we had a blast!

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/12/2022 22:10

Aww @MsJuniper, I do this too - thought I was the only one, lol.

Bestcatmum · 28/12/2022 22:11

I HAVE to go up on all fours because my knees are fucked.

Notimeforaname · 28/12/2022 22:13

When we go away for a weekend or day out and I see an empty playground, I make him pull over so we can play . We have no children.

burnoutbabe · 28/12/2022 22:13

ohsotired2022 · 28/12/2022 11:57

I'm 44 and still cuddle a teddy in bed 🤫

If I go on holiday I pack him too otherwise can't sleep without cuddling him.

Think my DH gets jealous 🤣

Same but I cope on holiday with a pillow (I assume it's the sleep position rather than the actual teddy)

I stay up until 2am when a new game I like comes out.

NooNooHead1981 · 28/12/2022 22:18

I used to gallop along like a horse, whinnying as a child and my DM was always very amused by this. She sometimes reminds me of it now and I have to say that if I had a whole field to myself in the middle of nowhere, I'd gallop along neighing wildly.

Yes, I still even do it occasionally with my children in the garden when the weather is nice. You can't beat a good old gallop and a loud neigh 😉🤣🐴
