to think breakfast for dinner is weird?

This is a thing my BF's family do a lot. Full English breakfast fry up at dinner time- 'breakfast for dinner'.

This is having had a normal breakfast and lunch throughout the day, not like they've slept all day and got up at dinner time and so this is the first time they're eating.

I think this is so strange. Just wondering whether this is a thing that people do or if its just them? And am I being weird for being so against it?

Yes.

ALL DAY BREAKFAST <— this is your answer

Mintakan · 27/12/2022 20:50

It’s not the content of the meal that determines the name, it’s the time of day.

Breakfast is the first meal you eat. I often have steak for breakfast. Is that dinner for breakfast?

geekone · 27/12/2022 20:51

Waffles for dinner with bacon and maple syrup 😋 YABVU

DrMarciaFieldstone · 27/12/2022 20:51

No, it’s fabulous. I can’t eat like that in the morning so a full breakfast for dinner is a winner

RedHelenB · 27/12/2022 20:51

Doesn't seem odd to me.

ChefsSalad · 27/12/2022 20:51

I love a brinner.

Stardustkid · 27/12/2022 20:52

Granola’s my limit for first meal of the day do yes an all day breakfast later sounds perfect

FOJN · 27/12/2022 20:52

I loved a veggie full cooked for dinner.

If you really want to start a fight you should say what's included. 😁

Whatslovegottodowithit88 · 27/12/2022 20:52

Love an English breakfast for dinner.

Isahlo · 27/12/2022 20:52

Yabu as above all day breakfast

sobercuriouskind · 27/12/2022 20:52

Yes, it's a meal I enjoy and don't always have the appetite for it in the morning.

Notthetoothfairy · 27/12/2022 20:52

Yup, do this occasionally and love it!

userxx · 27/12/2022 20:53

I just call it a fry up.

Scurryfunge12 · 27/12/2022 20:53

What’s wrong with it? Can’t people eat sausage, bacon and eggs at any other time of day? Some people don’t like a big cooked meal at breakfast time. Nothing odd about it.

CatSeany · 27/12/2022 20:54

Ohhh I love a fry up for dinner! Wish my partner's family ate like that!

apintofrum · 27/12/2022 20:54

It's a great dinner! We do it a lot. I wouldn't want it for breakfast, at the end of the day it's perfect.

ColinRobinsonsfamiliar · 27/12/2022 20:54

Breakfast tea.
what’s weird about a breakfast tea?
It’s delicious. Since when was delicious weird?

Stop it. Have a word.

Smartiepants79 · 27/12/2022 20:56

What’s weird about bacon and eggs for tea??
It’s just a fry up! One of my favourite meals.

Christmascracker0 · 27/12/2022 20:56

YABVVVVU - nothing beats a fry up for tea!

PussyGaPaw · 27/12/2022 20:56

It's just food. Yummy food. YABU.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 27/12/2022 20:57

Its a dinner winner in this house.

grumpycow1 · 27/12/2022 20:57

BRINNER!! Just one change if it’s dinner - hash browns and I would leave off the toast. Otherwise it’s great, especially in the in between bit of Xmas/NYE.

XenoBitch · 27/12/2022 20:57

All day breakfast.

I refuse to have anyone dictate I can not have a full English at 2pm because of some bullshit rule about dinner and breakfast.

Breakfast is to do with the time, not the food. Shift workers, and people landing from long haul flights, will be eating whatever to break their fast.

Ramsbottom · 27/12/2022 20:58

Op sausage egg bacon is not foods that can only be eaten before 10am. They are not breakfast foods as such.
