Christmas Decs

When do you take down your Christmas decorations? Ours went up the first weekend of December and I can’t remember when we usually take them down.
Would I be unreasonable to take them down tomorrow?

6th

BuffaloCauliflower · 27/12/2022 12:20

I’m taking ours down tomorrow. I love Christmas and usually keep them up till new year, but I’m due a baby in a few weeks and I just want things clear and sorted now. Do it whenever suits you

rumbypumby · 27/12/2022 12:21

Mine are coming down later

DuplicateUserName · 27/12/2022 12:21

There's already the annual thread about this.

But how can you be unreasonable unless you're in someone else's house? 😂

AlwaysLatte · 27/12/2022 12:29

Usually the Saturday before they go back to school, to give them a 'normal' weekend, although it's NYE this year so maybe the Sun.

MWNA · 27/12/2022 12:29

Yesterday evening.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 27/12/2022 12:29

Ours go up later and come down later.
Ours will be up for at least another two weeks

Rainbowx · 27/12/2022 12:30

2nd usually

elevenplusdilemma · 27/12/2022 12:31

Ours only went up on 17th Dec so we'll probably keep it up until 2nd/3rd Jan.

Badleg87 · 27/12/2022 12:31

I've done one room today and given ot a good clean. The living room ones, the main ones, will be up another day or two

Qwertyyui · 27/12/2022 12:32

Boxing day here! I love them but I love the house clear of clutter!

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 27/12/2022 12:33

I take ours down about 2nd/3rd January. They go up mid December

I have a friend who puts them up after Halloween 🎃

No chance!!!!!

MissDollyMix · 27/12/2022 12:33

You do whatever suits you! Christmas is a 12 day festival which starts on the 25th Dec and runs through to the 6th Jan so I’m loathe to take them down so soon after the 25th but that’s just what suits us.

MassiveSalad22 · 27/12/2022 12:35

I’m going to start taking them down today - up first weekend dec, need to start the new year Christmas-free and fresh every year. We’re going away on the 30th so now feels good!! Love a fresh start 😃

mumofftwo · 27/12/2022 12:35

Mine came down yesterday morning

HotDogJumpingFrogHaveACookie · 27/12/2022 12:37

6th Jan. We put them up mid December.

I don't understand people putting them up very early and then taking them down on boxing day, but its not my house

nokidshere · 27/12/2022 12:38

I take ours down on New Year's Day

ExtraOnions · 27/12/2022 12:38

…some people are taking the decorations down before the Turkey has gone cold - Happy Christmas

I intend to carry on celebrating through the week … so it will be after New Year for us .

KillerRobotCompetition · 27/12/2022 12:39

6th.
Christmas Day was only 2 days ago!

TheChosenTwo · 27/12/2022 12:39

Ours are down now. They went up 2 weeks ago. We go on holiday every year on the 27th or 28th and come back the day before everyone goes back to work and school
so we have everything back to normal before that. The cleaner comes while we are away and it’s so lovely to come home to a fresh tidy clean house! I was delighted to get everything gone. Love the decs up but only for a short time as they start to piss me off 😂I would hate to have put them up at the start of December and still have them up now, plus a real tree is always a bit of a risk for a few weeks let alone more. Ours held up beautifully, hardly any needles lost - until i started taking decorations off it and dh moved it outside!

Nadal · 27/12/2022 12:40

We take them down new year day as we see that as part of the Christmas period. I am not one for early decorations though. Some people are and they seem to be the ones taking them down Boxing Day.

scramblesontoast · 27/12/2022 12:42

I normally leave ours up until Jan 1st, however I've just sat down on the sofa after taking them all down now!! Baby 2 coming in 6 weeks and I've spent the WHOLE of December telling DS 18 months to put the sodding baubles back on the tree and I'm sick of it Grin

LubaLuca · 27/12/2022 12:42

Never before New Year. We often don't keep them up until 12th night which I know is the traditional time to take them down, but I like the festive feel they give. We don't put them up until the weekend before Christmas though, so we're not bored of them yet.

GooseberryCinnamonYogurt · 27/12/2022 12:42

Just taken mine down! Feels good 😄

Catdaft · 27/12/2022 12:43

Mine were down and back up the loft this morning.
