to get irrationally annoyed when people hijack threads to have conversations between themselves completely ignoring the OP

This has only happenned to me once but I see it happen on other threads too and it really gets my teeth gnashing. Someone starts a thread then two or three others give the OP a one word answer before launching into a conversation between themselves with injokes etc and then the whole thread end up being about them and not about the subject the OP originally brought up. I am a bit pre menstrual and probably a teeny bit irrational but I just think it is rude and wouldn't happen in RL.

OK, will go now after having my rant

2 people sitting in a pub, having a chat.

Along comes another friend, then another, then a friend of one of the people at the table. Soon, all are chatting.

Is it unreasonable if the conversation moves on from what the 2 people were talking about in the beginning and the whole group has a natter about lots of stuff?

hecate · 04/02/2008 20:28

oh. and now I've read the whole thread I get what you mean.

Don't you just HATE it when folks read half the thread and then chip in, totally misunderstanding what's being said.
