Thread title for traffic.

It's Christmas Eve, I've bought all the food, wrapped up the presents, arranged to go to FIL for lunch, got the Buck's Fizz on the ready.

At 4.30 am I woke up with uncontrollable shivers, my teeth were chattering and my muscles kept tensing and I couldn't stop it. My head is now pounding, entire body aches. I've somehow managed to hoover and mop in preparation for Xmas. Other half had asked if I'm going to be well enough for tomorrow, I said I have no choice I won't let DD down as she's so excited to see all her cousins, uncles etc.

I'm so fucking pissed off, feeling sorry for myself. I'm due to pick DD up in a few hours as she's with her Grandparents today. I got loads of yummy food and stickers for her, had a lovely evening planned.

Anyone else come down with a last minute cold/flu? It's so fucking typical, I even had my outfit and make up planned. I wanted so badly to make this year really good. Yes I'm feeling incredibly sorry for myself but more so DD as she's going to have a poorly mummy over Xmas.

How do I go about coping over the next 48 hours? Will it be acceptable to slip off for an afternoon snooze at FIL?

I'm so sad as I've been so looking forward to spending New Year/Holidays with my elderly parents this year, who live a few hours away, and on Boxing Day I woke up with a terrible sore throat and feeling awful so cannot go. On top of that my parents are now sick with covid. Now I won't be able to see them or spend this time with them at all. I'm so upset. I'm just going to be all alone for the next week thinking how nice it could have been. I feel so sick and all I can do is lie in bed, but I cannot sleep.
What a terrible year this has been.

I started with a scratchy throat and bit of a headache Christmas Eve around 9pm, woke up Christmas morning with a splitting headache, sore throat and full of a cold. Dragged my sick arse into work but got home feeling worse than ever, climbed into pjs and under a duvet and been there ever since! Tested positive for covid Christmas Day evening, its been a total washout as I’ve been too ill to do anything. My DS13 has basically had to fend for himself whilst occasionally bringing me drinks.

I didn't feel great on Xmas Eve & decided against going to Mums as planned. Didn't feel any better on Xmas Day & went over but had no appetite. Had half a glass of wine with dinner & was in bed by 1830. Boxing Day buffet has been postponed & im now feeling really sorry for myself.

My festive food has been mostly toast soup & diluting juice. I plan on making up for it next week

Yes and it’s been a horrible time I’ve had a severe chest infection cough, you name it almost didn’t get Christmas dinner! I’m still trying to recover but I feel so awful , I don’t think I will be able to return to work on the 3rd of January
