I don't want to start a UCM type thread but it just struck me how prety much everyone i saw at the shops earlier was foreign.

no one seemed to be speaking English at all.

pagwatch · 21/08/2008 15:19

quite pleased i didn't hide now as I would have missed the use of a Daily mail article to prove a non racist point

Hercules. Re national costume.I think they were Morris Dancers.
Bastards. Jingly bastard

PinkChick · 21/08/2008 15:19

The girls, whilst walking round with family had their entire face and body coverd, some had space above nose, some not...what amaised me is how the full lot came off whilst sat in bar's knocking back the drinks.
it wasnt one girl, nor one groups of girls...there are lots of stories lately about how everyone should accept people because their beiliefs are so strong and they MUST follow their religion..seems to be to me its only when it suits them..thats not an assumption again thats an observation!, maybe it was just that weekend, those several groups of people, maybe no one else would ever do that!?, but these people did

PinkChick · 21/08/2008 15:19

LOL, was thinking morris dancers myself as i tried to tactufully but unsuccefully write itLOL

MrsMattie · 21/08/2008 15:19

I don't understand what your point is, Shorty. Sorry.

pagwatch · 21/08/2008 15:20

captain
loon goading.
Definately
We Brits are gold medal winners you know

hercules1 · 21/08/2008 15:20

Apparently some catholics use contraception

VictorianSqualor · 21/08/2008 15:20

13 GCSEs at A&B yet you still haven't learnt the difference between there and their.
Bullshit.

ilovemydog, it's a British army base but mainly Fijians live there, as they are part of the British Army.

Aitch · 21/08/2008 15:21

"Aitch I am very well educated I have 13 GCSE's A's and B's also Btecs GNVQ's I am not paranoid about what they are capable of as its apparent in this country all they are able to do is Pick Greeting cards for a living something that I would not ever do its got to be the most boring job ever. I was responding to what someone else had said about how they are very highly educated which they are I was agreeing to what they said."

i'm not overly familiar with btecs etc in actual fact but i didn't understand the middle bit of your post. i'm not putting you down, i just didn't understand it, it isn't written in clear english.

zippitippitoes · 21/08/2008 15:21

lots of people would behave badly chick

but its not a result of their race/nationality they queue jump or swear or smoke

PinkChick · 21/08/2008 15:22

Hi Shorty, i know how these threads pan out, anyone with an opinion that isnt majority gets stoned for being racscist..way of the world these days but thanks for the heads up..

CaptainFabioHiltsTheCoolerCat · 21/08/2008 15:23

Gotcha Aitch and pagwatch

lol pagwatch's jingly bastards.

How fucking dare people do what suits them.
Bleedin' cheek.

Aitch · 21/08/2008 15:24

pinkchick... didn't you ever roll your skirt up at the waist on your way to school. what young people do out of sight of their parents and guardians is culturally-specific only in the sense that we emerge from different cultures... we all rebel in some form or another.

hercules1 · 21/08/2008 15:24

Being that covered is not an Islamic thing but a cultural thing. THe Quran doesn't require that much coverage.

pagwatch · 21/08/2008 15:24

hercules
the national costume thing is all true. My local pub has a no wellies no burka sign on the door.
(actually it should say no wellie no burka and no fucking jingly sticks IMO but then I am an irish catholic)

MrsMattie · 21/08/2008 15:25

This is all getting a bit too Jeremy Kyle.

mamadiva · 21/08/2008 15:25

I get what Pinkchick is saying about the pub thing though. I work with a woman who insists on wearing her head covering thingy because it is part of her religion(she is muslim), and we work in a care home and apparently she also demands breaks to pray! I haven't seen this though but then I was out a few days ago and saw her falling out of a pub rat arsed. Isn't that hypocritical? And also using religion to get extra breaks that we wouldn't get just because of our faith?

zippitippitoes · 21/08/2008 15:25

so if a big family group of all ages goes into a fish and chip shop and eats fish and chips it isnt because they are from liverpool even if they are all from liverpool

its because they are hungry

PinkChick · 21/08/2008 15:25

i know, zippi, my opinion is onyl and can be only based on the people i encountered.

i know several other nationalities will have become lairy and danced on tables that weekend (me not being one of them, forgot my morris dancers 'costume')..but what im saying is that we're told WE must respect other nations beliefs, but they (these people i saw) totally took the P..so why are we afraid to say anything when they themselves were making a mockery out of it?

VictorianSqualor · 21/08/2008 15:26

PinkChick, maybe these people were trying to behave in a way their parents would like.
Did you never roll your knee-length skirt up and put on your make-up on the school bus?

Going from this to this?? On a real?

VictorianSqualor · 21/08/2008 15:27

LOL AItch, I was busy googling for pictures!

cestlavie · 21/08/2008 15:27

Can we have morris dancing in the 2012 Olympics, you think? That has to be nailed on for a gold medal - actually, don't suppose we could slip in a the Public Drunkeness Relay as well could we? I'd fancy the odds on a gold for us in that one as well!

Aitch · 21/08/2008 15:27

your colleague sounds like a chancer, mamadiva. mind you, when i worked in bars it pissed me off that my colleagues got smoking breaks whereas i as a non-smoker had to work through my shift. i took up smoking. perhaps you should convert?

PinkChick · 21/08/2008 15:28

LOl, when are these types of threads NOT going to turn out to be so predictable??

ill maintian my opinion, but will walk away, it doesnt bother me that much what other people think, or that they think im wrong..am off to iron my morris dancing costume for tonight now..bye

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 15:29

Yeah for sure PinkChick O well the Race card is played way to much by everyone especially by people who know little or nothing about the situation.

Victoriansqualor regardless of my spelling or grammer its called lazy english if I wished to write a statement in the Queens English I am more than capable of doing so. Also my spelling and grammer has nothing to do the topic that we are talking about so how bout u KMPW! and try and rag someone else.

CaptainFabioHiltsTheCoolerCat · 21/08/2008 15:29

mamadiva maybe your colleague was praying for drink.
which worked, apparently.
