What do you have for Boxing Day?

I’d normally think leftovers..but it’s only the 3 of us this year, so I haven’t got loads for Christmas dinner and even so, I imagine Dh will eat any bits leftover on Christmas Day evening.
Do you make a whole new meal for Boxing Day or eat what’s lying around or what?
Ive planned Christmas Eve food and obviously Christmas Day, but not Boxing Day 🤔

OP posts:
IggyAce · 20/12/2022 18:19

Boxing Day I’m thinking meats & cheese.

greenhousegal · 20/12/2022 18:20

Paracetemol, Berocca and a dessert of sedatives.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/12/2022 18:20

Cheese is the answer

AlisonDonut · 20/12/2022 18:20

There's only 2 of us and we have bubble and squeak with sausages.

chocolateisavegetable · 20/12/2022 18:22

It’s just DH and I on Boxing Day this year. I’m thinking part-baked baguettes with Turkey and cranberry for lunch and nachos with an obscene amount of cheese for dinner. And obviously lots and lots of Yule log.

Wafflehouse · 20/12/2022 18:22

Buffet style tea. Sausage rolls, I make Delia’s- they’re already in the freezer, cheese, crackers cold meat etc and birthday cake.

FlowersFlowersEverywhere · 20/12/2022 18:24

Breakfast: bubble and squeal and fried eggs
Lunch: cold meat, pickles, chips
dinner: Turkey and ham pie

TreacsPotNoodle · 20/12/2022 18:25

Usually leftovers for lunch and bubble and squeak for dinner, I deliberately make too much on Christmas so we have leftovers because that's the best bit!

StopFeckingFaffing · 20/12/2022 18:28

Leftovers, pork pie, ham, red cabbage, pickled onions etc for savoury

Xmas cake, mince pies, panettone, leftover Xmas pud etc for dessert

Grapewrath · 20/12/2022 18:28

We normally have a cooked breakfast after a long walk, then cheese and crackers and left overs later on in the day

Noodledoodledoo · 20/12/2022 18:28

Salmon and veg - we are out on Christmas Day so no left overs and have my pescatarian Dad with us.

Hobbesmanc · 20/12/2022 18:32

We don't eat at home Christmas Day so we'll be having a mini version of Christmas dinner with just two of us. Cheating with M and S veggies.

AuntieMarys · 20/12/2022 18:33

Lasagne. We eat out Xmas day

AbsolutelyFuckingSick · 20/12/2022 18:33

greenhousegal · 20/12/2022 18:20

Paracetemol, Berocca and a dessert of sedatives.

Ahem how have you got your hands on my menu 😂

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/12/2022 18:35

I boil and glaze a gammon joint on Christmas Eve, and we have it cold with baked potatoes and coleslaw on Boxing Day.

Iknowhim · 20/12/2022 18:36

No main meal just a steady stream of food. Cheese, meat, bread, chocolate, maybe an orange. Then trifle.

What a great idea! I’m stealing this. Legend.

pinneddownbytabbies · 20/12/2022 18:39

Could be several things this year. Turkey soup, baked gammon with jacket spuds, or turkey and ham pie. Haven't decided what it's going to be this year yet as I'm not sure what the adult dc are doing.

Turkey soup might not sound like a lot, but I also shove in all the leftover veg, potatoes, pigs in blankets etc.

DilemmaDelilah · 20/12/2022 19:13

If I've cooked Christmas dinner we ALWAYS have cold turkey, home cooked ham, leftover chestnut stuffing/sausages, baked potatoes, salad and chutneys of various kinds, followed by whatever puddings we have left. My daughter is hosting this year so it will be whatever we can find in the fridge!

Veryverycalmnow · 20/12/2022 19:16

Bubble and squeak made from Christmas dinner leftovers. Doesn't matter how many of you there are. Get a few more potatoes. Also cheese and crackers, dips and crisps and pickles

Dacadactyl · 20/12/2022 19:18

Normally a buffet but not with leftovers.

So this year we've got a big joint of beef to come because we are doing Boxing Day at ours for 14. Then just general buffet food/nice breads etc alongside it.

Maybe an orange!

This an amateur question! You purposefully cook enough so that there will be leftoversGrin
I cook Christmas lunch and then the kitchen closes down for a few days. Everybody just grazes whatever they fancy out of the fridge. Or makes their own.

Ilovehamandtoast · 20/12/2022 19:26

Cheese and crackers, and dessert. 😋

ColdHandsHotHead · 20/12/2022 19:27

Risotto using leftover meat, then fruit and cheese.
