...for starting that thread when I didn't believe you existed (and I genuinely didn't). I've done some proper research now, and realise that you are real person with fantastic real achievement. I apologise unreservedly for my previous thread, which was genuinely not designed to get at you since I did not believe you existed. I am aghast and incredibly impressed at how much you have achieved, and look forward to sparring with you again some time...

For research purposes, I tried to find out who Xenia is and failed. I'm not a bad googler, so she can't be completely obvious.

Unless she really is a warrior princess....who can't quite spell her own name...

hercules1 · 02/02/2008 17:43

Perhaps the sudden turn around could have been because you realised you were wrong

wildwoman · 02/02/2008 17:44

Oh stop it! Its just making me want to know when before all this I couldn't have cared less.

duchesse · 02/02/2008 17:45

But I wouldn't have realised I was wrong without the research, plus the number of people on the other thread who said they had met her.

OP posts:
hercules1 · 02/02/2008 17:49

But duchesse, it was wrong because even though you don't agree with her opinions, that doesn't mean she isn't real. It means she has different views to you. It's not about realising she is actually real.

hunkermunker · 02/02/2008 17:49

If she's not even online, perhaps BOTH these threads should be deleted.

duchesse · 02/02/2008 17:51

No, it really genuinely was that I didn't believe any more that she was a real person. I guess last night was the first time I'd argued something at really close quarters with her.

OP posts:
hercules1 · 02/02/2008 17:52

But can you see that just because you have an argument with someone here doesn't make it okay to start such a thread about them? Loads of people on mumsnet may not be real. I think that's irrelevant. As long as they are not being offensive/racist etc etc then so what? And that goes for all posters.

hunkermunker · 02/02/2008 17:53

I've reported this thread.

I think both should go, actually.

duchesse · 02/02/2008 17:53

Please refer to my full apology to the person in question at the bottom of this page.

OP posts:
hercules1 · 02/02/2008 17:54

I agree, hunker. Must stop posting on them too (note to myself).

BoysAreLikeDogs · 02/02/2008 17:55

Sheesh just because you have had a rotten week

duchesse · 02/02/2008 17:59

I said I was sick- this is impairing my judgment. I did not say I was taking it out on anyone.

OP posts:
loopylou6 · 02/02/2008 18:03

u didnt think she was a real person? what exactly did u think she was then? a computerised robot?

Vacua · 02/02/2008 18:03

why so much assumption that xenia can't report threads on her own behalf or defend herself if she wants?

on RoF she was outed repeatedly and for a while delighted in posting details that identified her, including very personal info about her children which many objected to

can't imagine that she will be in the least bit ruffled by this and think duchesse posed a fair question

Vacua · 02/02/2008 18:05

I bet there are LOADS of posters on here and other internet discussion boards who assume a very different persona from their real selves - it's a haven for fantasists

campaigns for duchesse to be given a break

needmorecoffee · 02/02/2008 18:12

whats RoF?

yetanothername · 02/02/2008 18:23

Hmmm, interesting that people will leap to defend a strong poster who probably couldn't give a crap whether people believed she was real or not and yet other times if people have been feeling got at they're got at further.

Flock around the strong, pick off the weak. How nice.

hunkermunker · 02/02/2008 18:24

YAN, did you namechange specially for this thread?

hunkermunker · 02/02/2008 18:25
hercules1 · 02/02/2008 18:28

Actually I don't think anyone should have their name put in a thread title to be questioned regardless of being strong or weak. It's a principle thing rather than trying to help out an individual.

Lulumama · 02/02/2008 18:28

i defend anyone i think is having a hard time.

ComeOVeneer · 02/02/2008 18:29

Oh dear I can see the theme of tonights mn

ComeOVeneer · 02/02/2008 18:29

Hunker please don't pick me up on the missing apostrophe in my last post .
