I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

Cashmere sweaters. Cost £100-200 each about 8 years ago. Still good as new and so warm that I don't need to turn the heating up.

Yes I always opt for Cashmere

Also skincare products

catfunk · 17/12/2022 21:58

Lots of things really but off the top of my head:
Natural fabrics eg real wool/ cashmere is much warmer
Linen bedding - washes beautifully and lasts years
Real wool blankets

Mary46 · 17/12/2022 21:58

teomama · 17/12/2022 21:59

catfunk · 17/12/2022 22:01

Oh and a good mattress (Otty)

WildishBambino · 17/12/2022 22:01

Crockett & Jones shoes (I took a long train ride to their factory shop to get them 70% off and they were still painfully expensive). Very smart, blissfully comfortable and still look like new a couple of years on.

Laser Hair removal

Hypnos mattress.

An old rescue cat - he was cheap, but the vet's bills haven't been. Love him to bits though.

EdithStourton · 17/12/2022 22:01

The dogs.
The all-weather coat that I walk them in. Cost about £150 and has so far done me five winters.
A comfortable sofa.

EdithStourton · 17/12/2022 22:02

Oh, and the memory foam mattress.
It cost a mint, but not only is it comfortable, I also don't get bounced around when DH rolls over.

woodhill · 17/12/2022 22:02

Panache bras

Dualit kettle and toaster

kennycat · 17/12/2022 22:02

I do have them and they do help a bit but still not great.

kittenkipping · 17/12/2022 22:04

This is a super rich thread. £100 bins. Doc martins. Cleaners. All other worldly to me, particularly now at Christmas.

For me- god squash. Peach barley particularly £1.50! Instead of £0.50p but damn it! It's worth it

Originally a present, now a daily treat and totally worth it.

Coming from the other angle what I cannot understand is speedy boarding on flights? Why pay extra to be crammed into the aircraft for longer than is necessary. I will sit in the departure lounge until the last few seconds.

Bestcatmum · 17/12/2022 22:08

Chanel number 5.

silverbubbles · 17/12/2022 22:08

Ie chameau wellies

EdithStourton · 17/12/2022 22:09

Classy yarn for knitting and crochet. Just a delight to work.
And what you make with it looks amazing, too.

comical2023 · 17/12/2022 22:09

6th form school fees. One term in and I have a different child on my hands

a Canadian winter coat similar to Canada goose but no fur. £600 in the sale and the warmest thing I have ever worn

private health care. Priceless. Would need to be destitute before I give it up.

Joseph Joseph totem style kitchen bin. I paid over £100 for it about 8 years ago. Its saved me money as the cheaper bins would regularly break and need to be replaced while this is still going strong.

Mine is a brabantia anti fingerprint slimline bin, it was £90 and it’s a thing of beauty that I’ve had for 15 years now.

Bed linen, jumpers & crockery/china 👍

Tripsabroad · 17/12/2022 22:11

Posh tinned tomatoes. Used economy for decades but now never going back.

Anything by Robert Welch

Silvercross all motion 360 car seat

Kiddy evoluna i-size 2 car seat

My Wombat & Co Wallaby maternity coat. Dithered for ages but now I wear it all the time. It converts to be used post-pregnancy.

Miele hoover. Much better than Dyson.

Superking bed

Aqualisa shower

Polarn O Pyret baby clothes. They are so well designed - they seem to last us for ages because they have extra cuffs and things to extend as you grow.
