Never said it did, but the USO facilitates the next day service. As mentioned, DPD simply won't allow me to send something next day, neither will evri or yodel, the option is not there to do so. Royal Mail can facilitate this and offer the service at a cheaper rate than any of those 3 competitors. For some bizarre reason you're getting angry that there is a better, cheaper service in place already and want to do away with it.
Wrt the USO itself and the implications of delivering that obligation in the long term, do you know when the time to consider that was? That's right, before buying a company with USO.
The government aren't going to drop it because no matter how unimportant or outdated you think it is, it is still considered an important (some would say vital) service. It just so happens the the government found someone to offload the burden of delivering that service on to when they sold RM.
You also need to remember that RM made something like a £750 million profit last year, its not like they're facing administration or anything. It's just simply that the USO part isn't profitable for them and they want more profit to give away to their shareholders. They could easily meet the demands of the workforce but most elitist arseholes they want to exploit their workforce as much as possible to line their own pockets.
It's nuts that shills like you and Florenz are actually out there defending people like Simon Thompson. Why are you all so desperate for the USO to be dropped and workers rights to be erroded just so RM can funnel even more money from their workers to their shareholders? I can only assume you are one of those shareholders and have your greedy little eyes on a bigger payout.
