to not be arsed about the football happening on my wedding day?

I'm getting married today. I've had about five people give me commiserations about the football. It hadn't even occurred to me to worry about it to be honest.

My DH to be is really worried it's going to disrupt the day and be a huge problem. Aibu to think this isn't really an issue? I honestly can't bring myself to worry about it. I feel like most people are polite and won't do anything rude but I'm not bothered if people are keeping an eye on the score.

Am I missing something? Is this likely to be really bad?

I feel so sorry for all todays brides who may be worried about guests sloping off to watch the match. ,Surely you can sneak a quick look at the score and then watch the whole thing tomorrow on catch up? Actually I know we’re not supposed to brag on MN but I just commented on this thread to DH and his response was “what match?”!!!

Not really sure why having a husband who doesn't like football is something to brag about. Plenty of women like football too and will be watching with their family.

Or who apparently doesn't read the news or keep abrest of current affairs or culturally significant events. Sounds like a real catch

@Nocaloriesinchocolate does it not turn you off massively to have a husband so oblivious of the world, the news, social media, current events.

I cringed reading that. Does he not have a single friend or work colleague? Does he have a job where he doesn’t come into contact with a single other human?

We are a football crazy family, so if it was my wedding, I would sort something out. (Or get the grooms men to sort it out. Maybe a table and a laptop or a screen if possible.)
However, if I was a guest at a wedding, of a couple that clearly aren’t all that bothered about the football, and the groom is actually a bit worried about it, I certainly wouldn’t expect a screen put up. I would check my phone and watch bits of it if possible - but not during any key moments like the first dance, speeches etc. And I certainly wouldn’t go off somewhere and watch it… if I’m a guest at a wedding, it will be someone I actually love and respect, and as football crazy as we are, our people come first.

Wouldn’t even occur to me to care tbh. I don’t do football, and neither do the majority of my close friends and family. We have our wedding booked for 2024, no clue if it clashes with any kind of sporting fixture, but it’s in the middle of no where with no Wi-Fi so 🤷🏻‍♀️ as long as my fiancé and I enjoy the day, others can do as they want tbh. But then again this is my second wedding when I’m in my 40s so I’m very much more relaxed about it all

Not sure why being ignorant is worth bragging aboutConfused

Does he really not watch or read any news?

Of course you can't watch live sport on catch up Hmm

Hi everyone! Just to update all went absolutely fine yesterday. A few people watching on their phones during the meal but I wasn't bothered about that and nothing disruptive! No screens as I didn't want to give our venue's lovely wedding coordinator something else to worry about but everyone seemed to have a good time! A storm in a teacup after all!
