As an Irish person, I just dont get the obsession with the royal family

I'm sitting here and watching Harry and Megan on Netflix. It came up as number one viewed today on my list so I tuned in during an idle hour .I m shocked..the obsession with their lives, the paparrazi involvement destroying family holidays.Jesus Christ, how did they not crack up . Hell on earth.Surely, as humans, theyre just like the rest of us..just loaded and victims of their environment.

And I'm from Northern Ireland and feel the same way. They're a very unattractive and confused pair who I don't want to see or hear about.

Old enough to remember his mother's funeral as an adult. As annoying as the royal family are, some residual sentiment for a bloke that went through that as a kid. She seems nice enough in a California actress kind of way. There's barely concealed racism and I feel for her on that.

Well I'm 74. I never have, and still have, absolutely no interest in the royal family, but then I also don't watch 'afternoon telly', with or without a 'nice' cup of tea.

Funnily enough, even though I'm old, I actually have a life.

Im no spring chicken but i watch afternoon telly when I get in from work and finally get my lunch. Countdown keeps my brain active, then I take the dog out.
Except yesterday I watched episode one of Meghan and Harry instead of Colin on Countdown.

Im Australian and the whole thing is absolutely batshit to me.

An institution built on colonialism and racism and the idea that someone's blood makes them superior to others is morally abhorrent, i don't care how many ribbons they cut outside organisations they've not put any time of effort into creating.

Photographers following Harry and William as children is child abuse, not to mention filming those poor children for the world as they mourned their mother who was chased to death by photographers.

I think that's a sentiment widespread throughout the famous community. They all just want to sell an image of themselves.

It's just a social phenomenon. People are often interested in why others like/think the things they do.
