To think he’s just a cocklodger?

Lots of debate in previous months about the high profile marriage split of a famous (ish) Welsh actor, who got his big break with a bit part in the Titanic movie. He has spent the last year doing no work, no childcare and just traveling around the world with his new girlfriend who appears to also have no job.

And now he seems to have admitted that his living expenses are being funded by his poor partner who is also battling a challenging life-changing illness.

He's just another cocklodger, isn’t he?

Did you start this thread in an attempt to hide the fact that court documents show Alice has been stealing Ioan’s money while hiding her own? Did you miss the part where is states he has paid every bill for the house, her and their children while she lies in bed, drugged and pissed daily? Did you miss the last set of court documents outlining the abuse she has directed at him and their children?

Alice is an absolute disgrace of a woman and I hope his house is sold ASAP, all the money she stole from him is returned and she has to move to the area of LA where 70% of children speak English as a second language, that she was so afraid of doing. Racist bitch to boot.

How was she stealing his money?

And how would an unknown like Bianca make money off social media?

IG needs to come home, S4C and BBC Wales drama department would keep him plentifully busy!

He's no spring chicken though and not especially compelling.

I think all three of them would face an uphill battle reigniting mediocre acting careers in middle age.

Honestly some of you have properly lost it if you think I am Alice Evans.

mumsnetters so often tell women who have been shat on from a great height, to squirrel say their cash. If Alice Evans has done this it seems admirably sensible to me, though her behaviour when all this first happened didn’t suggest she had the acumen to be so sensible.

whatever side of the fence you fall on, if indeed you do, there is no doubt that Ioan did just go off on an extended European holiday, leaving the kids behind. Same as he did when working in Australia.

I have been posting on Mumsnet since something like 2008 and the boy thing I have in common with Alice Evans is fertility issues - which is what brought me to this nest of vipers in the first place.

The term ‘Cocklodger’ was one of the things that made me like this place so much tbh and after reading the article yesterday about Ioan Gruffydd’s latest legal filing it seemed to be a term that fit. Made me think of mumsnet and so here I am - having a whole bunch of vipers and their conspiracy theories mouthing off at me.

it’s like old times. 🤣🎅

I’ve noticed that there is a small, but very vocal group of women online who are obsessed with this divorce and congregate on multiple platforms habitually accusing anyone who directs even a hint of criticism in Ioan Gruffud’s direction of being Alice Evans, and relish at the prospect of interacting with her (see the post before this one).

It’s not normal behaviour.

I am the same. Googled from the OPs posts, recognised him from some shows I’ve seen but knew nothing of his private life and now feel sorry for him.

Were you there? You have no way of knowing what “definitely” happened and before you accuse me of hating women or something, I don’t like Johnny Depp either, they both sound toxic.

Alice doesn’t sound very nice. And even in sweltering California, their home is in swanky La Jolla which is on the ocean right by San Diego. But the power bill is almost $5000? That’s just excessive and there’s really no excuse. Like she’s purposely wasting energy. That’s the sort of energy bill for a small hotel.
And also, $2million in LaJolla isn’t all that fancy, considering they’ve got homes there going for $20million and up.

No, it isn't.

The house is on La Jolla Avenue which is very much in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. It is not in San Diego.

what does Bianca do for a job? Whatever it is, it must be fairly lucrative.

I think if he was still with his wife he would be getting the decent amount of work he used to get. Directors are likely steering clear of him due to the awful publicity and negative attention he brings.

Johnny Depp also had evidence she abused him from the trial I saw. Women can be liars and abusers too. Men are much much more likely to be abusers but women can be too. To just believe one sex is always innocent is poor reasoning.

Was his treatment of his wife and kids poor though? I'm not sure we can say with any certainty that it was.

I've read his submissions for the restraining order, a lot of what he produced was factual evidence (emails, video transcripts etc - some of them were really nasty) and she didn't respond to any of those allegations or appear at court to defend the application (she didn't need a lawyer to do this, she could have just turned up herself). The judge was sufficiently convinced by his evidence to grant a permanent restraining order against her.

Based on the court documents Alice doesn't come across well. It's clear she feels very aggrieved but whether that is objectively justified or not is another matter.

The court will ultimately decide, based on the evidence, the issues surrounding custody and financials.

It's interesting because I think if a woman had left her husband, been granted a domestic violence restraining order, been paying all expenses for the husband and shared DC for two years and then moved in with another male partner who was providing financial support there would be a lot of sympathy shown for her.

My principle concern is for the DC as this level of conflict must be very damaging for them and for their sake I hope a resolution is reached as quickly as possible.

I felt the same way, but then I discovered that he went off to France for work, came home with a girlfriend (who his children had never met) and moved her, a stranger, into their home.

He was also recently awarded contact with his children after one year of not seeing them, and he actually cancelled one of the first couple of sessions to go on holiday with his girlfriend to Australia.

That is the actions of a selfish man. There is no getting away from it.

No, they never returned to their father’s for visitation after he came back from France with Bianca.

They have only started seeing him again recently, after around one year.

I think reunification therapy is underway as there are concerns that the relationship has been damaged by their mother. He is trying to get 50:50 custody so I'm not sure that suggests disinterest in the DC.

At the end of the day none of us know the ins and outs of it as we weren't there but I think we can say that Alice hasn't come across well based on the court documents we've seen thus far.
