To have never heard of these chocolates before?!

I had my lovely friend over for lunch today, we organised it as it'll probably be the last time we see each other now in between the craziness of children and Christmas coming up!

We exchanged some small, token gifts and she had bought me the most beautiful looking box of chocolates! I hadn't actually ever seen them before or heard of the brand.. and am not even sure how exactly to pronounce it Blush

'The Signature collection' truffles by a brand called Booja-Booja. I then had to have a little Google, and I love everything they stand for!

I'm not a vegan / dairy free, but am actively trying to reduce how much meat and animal derived products I'm consuming so I'm absolutely DELIGHTED to find these chocolate truffles are dairy free! They taste incredible 🤩

I text my friend to thank her, and she was absolutely shocked to find out that I had never heard of them before!

During my Google I noticed how pricey they are.. BlushI must admit they aren't something I'd have the spare cash to buy myself on a whim, but they do look as though they'd make lovely gifts!

So (light hearted of course!!)

AIBU to have never heard of them before.. let alone tried them?!

I’ve tried them, I thought they were synthetic tasting.

Lindt is better. And cheaper.

EvilRingahBitch · 06/12/2022 20:04

They're OK. If I'm dashing round Sainsbury's at the last minute getting little end of term gifts for DS's teachers they're useful to make sure his vegan TA has something.

carefulcalculator · 06/12/2022 20:05

I like them, but not enough to start a thread!

Lindt is sugary shite, I eat it happily but not a quality product.

Booja Booja clearly aren’t putting their sizeable margins to good use paying for proper marketing if this is what they’ve resorted to.

Quite

Dogsgottabone · 06/12/2022 20:08

No. Chococo all the way.

Fifthtimelucky · 06/12/2022 20:10

A vegan friend introduced me to Booja Booja truffles several years ago. One of my daughters is now a vegan and I have a box of truffles ready for her Christmas stocking.

I'm not a vegan but think they are much better than other vegan chocolates that I have tried

Angelofthenortheast · 06/12/2022 20:14

I always get them and their ice cream for Christmas. Tbf they're amazing quality chocolates (should be for the price!) but I think the copywriting on the packaging is a bit weird.

SallyWD · 06/12/2022 20:25

I really like them.

Jimmini · 06/12/2022 20:28

I thought they were pretty poor. There are others doing similar, better tasting without the price tag.

alasangne · 06/12/2022 20:28

Nah I prefer crunchies

Despairingof · 06/12/2022 20:35

Not a fan, nice packaging but chocolates not all that.

SpicyFoodRocks · 06/12/2022 20:36

Poor vegans. This is all they get from people who don’t know them that well. I have gifted a box in the past to a vegan teacher.

LaughingCat · 06/12/2022 20:41

Love a bit of Booja Booja! The End.

TuxedoJunction · 06/12/2022 20:43

My DH bought me a box of them back in 2005. So they’ve been going a good 17 years at least. We lived in London at the time and they were bought in a high end deli near Tower Bridge. I think they’ve only been sold in the supermarkets for the past 10 years or so. I really like them.

immergeradeaus · 06/12/2022 20:46

I think they taste weird and a bit like cardboard. I prefer Charbonnel & Walker tbh or even M&S own brand.

Strong aftertaste of spam

I read this as sperm!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 06/12/2022 20:53

I suppose that means they've decided to expand away from Waitrose now the Ocado partnership ended - it's definitely where I saw them (and though 'fuck me, that's a load of money for some balls of fat and sugar!' - I'm clearly neither a chocolate fan nor am I their target demographic of People With Money To Burn).

This!

Nosecamera · 06/12/2022 20:58

I had no idea they were considered expensive, Ive oy ever been given them and a gift, they don't taste it.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 06/12/2022 20:58

Usually when someone feigns the mock ' I can't believe you've never herd of it/them' it's because they're being pretentious... wanting to make you feel like you're out of the loop.

Take no notice.

Igmum · 06/12/2022 20:59

Didn't know they did chocolate but I like their ice cream 😋😋

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 06/12/2022 19:25

Dairy free? Fuck that, I want proper milk in my chocolate.

I second that! I can't imagine what dairy-free "milk chocolate" would contain but I don't like the thought of it.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/12/2022 21:02

A vegan friend gave me one of these after a meal, hoping to disprove my longstanding claim that vegan chocolate is shit. I will say I didn't think "Ugh no, this is that vegan chocolate" but I didn't like it enough to have another one.

MayISuggestSomeThickCutSteakChipsToGoWithThat · 06/12/2022 21:03

I really like them

underneaththeash · 06/12/2022 21:06

They’re not too bad for weird processed crap compared to a lot of substitutes
Chocolate (Cocoa Mass, Cane Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Vanilla Powder), Coconut Oil, Cane Sugar, Cocoa Powder, Dried Mandarin Pieces, Coconut Syrup, Orange Extract, Agave Syrup, Water, Sea Salt, Vanilla Extract*.
*Organically grown ingredients.
May also contain other nuts. Chocolate: minimum cocoa solids 55%.

they have 25% more fat in the compared to regular truffles.
