To think EVRI (formerly Hermes) have lost the plot !!

Apologies for the length of the post, just need a rant !! Anyone else had experience of EVRI delivery service incompetence ? I’ve had a few issues with them over the last few months, but the last one has been utterly bewildering.

Ordered three items in pre Black Friday sales, at three different online retailers. I asked for next day delivery. Emails from EVRI on the Friday saying they had all three parcels and would advise when they were out for delivery. Then nothing until the following Monday, when they updated the app to say all three were out for delivery and gave a two hour delivery window along with tracking numbers.

Five minutes after the delivery window expired they sent an email to say that the courier had tried to deliver and we were out. The fact that I was in a room overlooking the front door and have a ring camera say otherwise. Checked the footage - nothing. I also have a long standing instruction in the app to leave parcels in the enclosed porch if no reply - the couriers generally don’t even ring the bell, they just leave the parcels in the porch. So if the courier called on Monday and got no answer why did they not leave it in the porch as instructed ?

Email advised they would try to re deliver the following day, which they did. One parcel, unrelated, left in the porch. Since then they haven’t updated the app, I don’t know where my items are and there is seemingly no way to contact EVRI by phone. I finally found a complaints procedure online and outlined the problem. Got an email back with a ‘case number’ and an assurance that they would get back to me within 48 hours. That was a week ago.

When I contacted the retailers they all reported a high number of parcels ‘going missing’ recently and even they don’t have a customer services number - they have to rely on the business app to report problems. And yet they still continue to use them !!

So, I have no idea what’s going on with EVRI and posted to see if anyone has had a similar experience, and if/how you resolved it.

Our EVRI guy is fab. I think it varies on area or by person. He was apologising for the early delivery this morning (8.30am) and saying that he saw lights on, so he rang, otherwise he would have left it on our safe place. He’s great.

ILOVECHEESE79 · 04/12/2022 17:56

My area, the EVRI service is atrocious.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 04/12/2022 17:57

My Evri guy is brill. Never had an issue. Think it’s the luck of the draw what the local person is like

CoffeandTiaMaria · 04/12/2022 17:58

They’re utter crap.
I too had them saying there was no one in when I had been say working right by the window in the room next to the front door all day.
My deliveries were apparently ‘ yet the sellers haven’t received them and Evri don’t want to know.returned to sender’

ElfDragon · 04/12/2022 17:59

My Evri lady is fantastic. Always on time, and always on FB groups helping out of there is an issue in our area

Teadrinkingmumofone · 04/12/2022 18:03

It really does depend on the person in your area. My evri guy is brilliant.

Beldam · 04/12/2022 18:06

Haha literally the last thing I did before opening this thread was to complete feedback for the evri person who rectified my complaint

on Tuesday I received an email which said I had underpaid as my parcel had been randomly weighed and found to be 2.8kg and I had paid for 1kg and I needed to pay£3 plus costs of £3. Funny that the picture shows a letterboxed size parcel of 50g !!!

I think they are crap but don’t know what the alternative is with Royal Mail striking more and more

Agreed that it varies as you say.

I'm very fortunate with our local couriers and always have been. They're always friendly and considerate despite the time pressures they're under.

Rubbishname101 · 04/12/2022 18:08

I feel for you!

I don’t think you can actually get through to anybody at Evri - I couldn’t even speak with an Agent, just the ridiculous bot… tried calling but because I didn’t have a tracking number that they recognised (but that they provided and was on my receipt), couldn’t get through to speak with anyone.

crossstitchingnana · 04/12/2022 18:11

Ours delivered our parcel to a shed, attached to a house 4 doors away. All houses are numbered, took two days to work out where it was from the photo.

Womencanlift · 04/12/2022 18:11

I would pay extra postage to have my package NOT be sent by them. Had nothing but issues (even when Hermes) and that is living in 4 different areas

I know they wouldn’t because it doesn’t make business sense, but I would love it if retailers gave the buyer the option on how they sent it to you

Mañanarama · 04/12/2022 18:14

Our Evri guy is brilliant and has never once let me down, always on time and such a cheerful fella. They get a lot of stick, but not in this little town!

I had this. Got a phone number and thought I’d cracked it. Turned out to be an automated service and on giving the tracking number it just regurgitates the last info in the app. I tried saying ‘no’ when it asked for the tracking details and it cut me off !! So frustrating.

We've got 2 in our area. One is absolutely brilliant. The other one appeared on the local FB page in ring doorbell footage leaving a package in the chosen "hiding" place, all fine. They then reappeared with an Amazon parcel under their arm that had also been left in the hiding place! Fucking cheek of it

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 04/12/2022 18:17

Evri have always been unreliable but my god these last few weeks have been totally crap round here, although it has spurred me on to get my Xmas shopping sorted in case anything else I order is coming with them!

From now on I’m going to find out who the courier is before I buy. If it’s EVRI I’ll not bother. to worth the hassle. We’ve lived in three different areas in the NW in the last ten years and there have always been problems, but lately it’s been much worse.

Our Every man is really good, just leaves parcels in the porch as asked, doesn't even knock unless it needs a signature.

MrsCarson · 04/12/2022 18:18

Evri ! dam auto correct

17caterpillars1mouse · 04/12/2022 18:18

My Delivery lady, Anne, is fantastic. Was just discussing with DH about giving her a lovely tip for Xmas

SleepingisanArt · 04/12/2022 18:20

Our Evri man is good but so very very often parcels are 'sent to the wrong depot' which means they have to get it to the right place before they can send it to me. A next day delivery from Next using evri took over a week for this reason. Really puts me off ordering from them in future (I left suitably negative feedback!)

cardibach · 04/12/2022 18:21

Everyone saying it depends on the courier - no, it doesn’t.
Their policies are shit. Telling you when they’ll deliver with no option to change. No ability to say leave with a neighbour unless you can specify which neighbour (I don’t have access to their social diaries). Lost deliveries no option for shop drop and where there is , a deliberate policy of delaying delivery for a week.
pits nit a delivery service. There’s no service involved. They are utterly, utterly shot and I’ve taken to telling suppliers that I won’t be buying from them for as long as they use Evri. I don’t need the stres.

cardibach · 04/12/2022 18:21

Not lost deliveries. Lots of.

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 04/12/2022 18:21

The issue is as demand is increasing they are obviously getting more drivers and it's not just one person delivering in that area anymore, up until 6 months ago we always had 'Darren', things didn't always come on time but you would get an email to say it's delayed and he was generally apologetic when he did turn up. However in the last month we've had at least 3 different drivers delivering and it's all gone to pot.

I’ve just had a look on Trustpilot review site. Some of the reviews reflect appalling service. Regarding the name change - someone has commented that you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig, and the EVRI name is appropriate because they lose EVRI parcel they get their hands on !!

Our Evri people are brilliant. As are our DPD drivers. DPD in the nearest town has a new DPD delivery driver. From the local Facebook page I don't think this guy delivers any parcels at all to the correct address. So it's very much down to individual drivers.
