To think EVRI (formerly Hermes) have lost the plot !!

Apologies for the length of the post, just need a rant !! Anyone else had experience of EVRI delivery service incompetence ? I’ve had a few issues with them over the last few months, but the last one has been utterly bewildering.

Ordered three items in pre Black Friday sales, at three different online retailers. I asked for next day delivery. Emails from EVRI on the Friday saying they had all three parcels and would advise when they were out for delivery. Then nothing until the following Monday, when they updated the app to say all three were out for delivery and gave a two hour delivery window along with tracking numbers.

Five minutes after the delivery window expired they sent an email to say that the courier had tried to deliver and we were out. The fact that I was in a room overlooking the front door and have a ring camera say otherwise. Checked the footage - nothing. I also have a long standing instruction in the app to leave parcels in the enclosed porch if no reply - the couriers generally don’t even ring the bell, they just leave the parcels in the porch. So if the courier called on Monday and got no answer why did they not leave it in the porch as instructed ?

Email advised they would try to re deliver the following day, which they did. One parcel, unrelated, left in the porch. Since then they haven’t updated the app, I don’t know where my items are and there is seemingly no way to contact EVRI by phone. I finally found a complaints procedure online and outlined the problem. Got an email back with a ‘case number’ and an assurance that they would get back to me within 48 hours. That was a week ago.

When I contacted the retailers they all reported a high number of parcels ‘going missing’ recently and even they don’t have a customer services number - they have to rely on the business app to report problems. And yet they still continue to use them !!

So, I have no idea what’s going on with EVRI and posted to see if anyone has had a similar experience, and if/how you resolved it.

Terrible experiences to the point where now I want to know in advance who is going to be delivering or if item unsuitable, that Evri is not the pick-up courier.

Update. To my complete surprise I’ve just had a phone call from EVRI customer services in response to the complaint I sent to [email protected] on monday of last week.

They advise that because of the volume of deliveries due to Black Friday and the strikes at Royal Mail, they anticipate that deliveries will be delayed by ten days approximately. They have tracked the parcels to the local depot and say the couriers are working though them as fast as they can. When I asked what happens if I don’t receive them in that time frame, the only thing they could suggest was to contact the retailer and ask for a refund or replacement - the retailer will, in turn, claim from EVRI.

I asked for an explanation as to why I had had an email giving a delivery window, quickly followed by another saying they had tried to deliver and no reply. Confirmed I was in all day, waiting for the delivery and had checked ring camera footage to confirm no delivery attempt. The response was that that should never have happened - emails are not sent until the parcel has left the depot and is out for delivery with the courier.

I suggested that the email was sent so that the courier would be paid for the delivery attempt, and that EVRI would be covered for attempting delivery according to the speed of service purchased - given that my items were all next day delivery and I was now expected to wait for what amounts to over three weeks for delivery. She wouldn’t comment other than to say she would investigate via ‘management’ because the email should not have been sent until the courier had confirm that the item was out for delivery. Given the number of people here who have had the same experience, I don’t believe her, I think it’s standard practice. She would also not comment when I asked why EVRI does not have a contact telephone number where customers can actually speak to someone - she just directed me to the online service, which I already knew to be nothing more than a chat bot.

So all you lovely people who have responded with your own experiences, try the email address if you’re having problems. There’s no option for lost/delayed parcel enquiries - I used the damage to items/property option and just outlined my own problem. Make sure you give a contact number/email address as well as any tracking numbers or calling card serial numbers if you have them. It took a week, but at least I have confirmation that they have the parcels and a plan going forward. Thank you to all who responded with contact details to try - much appreciated, and to the person who provided the CEO email address, I have fired off an email outlining the shortcomings in the service they provide and asking for an explanation as to why they have changed their name, but have not addressed the awful service they provide. Watch this space !!

Forgot to say - I have caller ID and the number EVRI called from was withheld - says it all really !!

YANBU. Round here they are literally throwing them in the street. Friends in nearby flats have said all packages are left in the unsupervised lobby which is easily accessible by thieves and numerous parcels are going missing.

My local EVRI guy is lovely but I’ve noticed lots of new ones who dump and run. The hours it takes to call cs and get a refund then reorder is ridiculous especially as there are thousands in the same boat.

I don’t doubt the delivery drivers have incredible pressure to perform

SleeplessInEngland · 06/12/2022 13:30

I do half wonder if all the people who seem always pop up on these threads saying Evri are brilliant are paid shills. Hermes were known for being worst delivery service in the country, I doubt it’s improved it’s improved much with a bane change.

I had an email back from customer services just now from someone saying they work at the local depot who are looking for my parcels and will get them sent out as soon as possible. If I don't hear anything in 10 days then to contact the retailer.

This this is likely to be BS and they will get to my parcels if/when they get to them but we shall see.

One of the parcels I need by Friday so I've already asked the retailer if they can resent for store pick up or use another courier but I don't hold out much hope until the 10days with Evri has passed.

The other parcels are a new duvet and my son's Christmas PJ's that the elves usually bring on the 1st so that ship has sailed. They should still fit next year so could always keep them if they show up after Christmas.

TheseAreSexPeopleLynn · 06/12/2022 13:33

Thank you so much for the update! That's very interesting. I have emailed the same email address and got an auto response saying it isn't in use anymore but hopefully they may still get back to me too. There may also still be hope that the parcel randomly turns up one day too by the sounds of it!

TheseAreSexPeopleLynn · 06/12/2022 13:36

On a related note, I don't suppose anyone else's missing parcel is from Ted Baker? Their customer service is equally as shocking, I can't get hold of a human being at all. I can only assume it's a knock on impact from using Evri and hopefully they'll reassess that relationship going forwards.

paintitallover · 06/12/2022 13:37

They're very good round here, luckily.

kindlyensure · 06/12/2022 13:38

Yup, like pp ^ I have three parcels (all different retailers) stuck at the Evri delivery depot for nearly 3 weeks now.

Would that they had been chucked into a hedge or 'attempted delivery'. At least I know they would have moved at least.

Tbf to them, they are not usually like this. I think something is broken in their logistics chain.

LookItsMeAgain · 06/12/2022 14:03

Can I suggest that if you're not getting any joy going through the usual method of raising a complaint/query as to where your packages are, that you could email [email protected] or if you're on Twitter at @ bbcwatchdog (without the space between the bits).

They had a piece a few months ago about the numbers of parcels and packages that go "missing" or undelivered and they all end up in a warehouse and I think they get auctioned off.

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/2YjLY3WpCzfhD0yW5vtCV4w/hermes

They used to have a clip of the piece they did about the parcels going missing on their website but I can't find it there any more.

AtomicRitual · 06/12/2022 14:42

Our local facebook page had, honestly, 5 posts on Sunday about Evri, with everyone posting pictures of the supposed delivery location of their parcel, saying that it wasn't their house.

Something had gone seriously wrong there! Not sure how many people actually managed to track down their parcels, but it was quite telling that there were so many all on the same day. Either the system was messed up, or the courier was having a really, really bad day!

Fairyliz · 06/12/2022 14:48

We are lucky that our Evri guy is fabulous. He’s a young man, always very polite and everything delivered on time. He works very long hours in the run up to Christmas to make sure everything is delivered.
My only concern is that he is cold; he always wears shorts even in mid winter!

SpotifySpecific · 06/12/2022 14:52

My evri driver is ace but I'm waiting for a parcel from the 19/11 and no update from evri other than please allow another 48 hours which was from the 21/11.
The company I ordered from aren't replying to my messages or emails.

Hellsmovie · 06/12/2022 14:59

Evri are shit. 4 attempts to a buisness last week . Apparently no one was home. Lazy prick drivers

woodhill · 06/12/2022 17:56

I've received my parcel but I had to speak to the sender and it arrived today even though Evri had had it since last Monday

amonsteronthehill · 07/12/2022 19:43

Evri has now had a package for me for a week. It's really shit. I can see that they received it on 1st December, and yet there it sits, not even out for delivery...

Royal Mail is no better because of all the strike days. They've had another one of my packages for 6 days now, and no indication as to when it might be leaving the regional depot....

ClemFandango1 · 07/12/2022 20:21

Why is everyone getting busy phoning customer services?
I can tell you as an online retailer, that's the sender's job. Just complain to them, they have to chase it, not you, your contract is with the retailer.

ClemFandango1 · 07/12/2022 20:23

Not thrilled with RM right now. Things I send 24/48 hours are taking days and days to get to customers.

TheHauntedPencilCase · 07/12/2022 20:27

We've had 2 good evri people so my issue isn't with the delivery itself it's that I've now had Evri lose several parcels. Got my money back but they were items I wanted and can't replace so the refund is pointless.

Ditto this.

I actually emailed the company I purchased from yesterday evening pointing out I had planned to wear the items tomorrow for an event (which I do!), and that the package had been sitting with Evri for a full week with no indication of when it might be delivered.

It arrived on my doorstep at 7:30 this morning. Quite a result!

Cheesuswithallama · 08/12/2022 18:18

I miss my evri guy😔
The new people are fuvking useless

kindlyensure · 09/12/2022 17:09

Yup, I also emailed the retailer yesterday as mine is stuck at the delivery depot- was so excited to get a message this morning that Evri would deliver today (also a dress for an event). Result!.....

....And have just had a message from Evri to say there was a problem with my delivery and they would message me again on Monday with an update....

They've had it for three weeks now... (Not to mention the other three parcels they also have).

Yabado · 09/12/2022 17:42

I’ve had at least 10 parcels delivered by EVri in the last week including 2 today
no issues

I have a gate with a proper sign that I had made that’s says. “please throw parcels over the gate “ 😂😂
They always do this and then take a photo
My postman and all the other couriers will do the same.

actually today they put one parcel over and the other one went to my neighbors path
no idea why he did that as he delivered them at the same time

but I could see it in the cctv so found it
