AIBU to think that people who eat their share and who then want everyone else's too, are incredibly annoying?

I had a few relatives visiting yesterday and I bought some fairly expensive individual cakes as a treat. My Uncle ate his with lunch then was put out and complained that there wasn't one left for him when we had ours later with tea and coffee. Other small cakes, mince pies and biscuits plus chocolate were still available.

I'm probably being petty but he has form for this. He seems to want his share and everyone else's too.

AIBU to think that generally speaking if you've had your share, that's it? You don't get to eat everyone else's too?

@LadyMarmaladeAtkins im fully aware of that my remark was to the poster who said about serving penis sized portions of normal food not to the OP

healthadvice123 · 03/12/2022 19:15

@stuntbubbles and my answer wasn't to the OP it was to another who implied fill stop men don't need to eat more

healthadvice123 · 03/12/2022 19:16

@user1471465329 actually more like 500 a day more and no one wants an extra 5 pieces of bread

AutumnCrow · 03/12/2022 19:18

Yes but it's about manners

healthadvice123 · 03/12/2022 19:20

If people are going to reply to others maybe read what they have replied to and what else they have written before piling on.

This link shows in detail how women need more than 2000 a day if they're active, or pregnant, or breastfeeding www.livestrong.com/article/360444-daily-recommended-caloric-intake-for-women and pparently menstruation ups your metabolism by about 100 cals a day too. So there's really not that much in it.

YANBU, he’s a selfish twat.

My DH is usually very generous (too generous at time) but has a blindspot when it comes to cook. I’ll cook a massive lasagne, pie etc with 9 portions, so it can do for a couple of meals (with veg and sides). He could easily demolish more than half the dish if I let him.

To be fair, if I put it in the fridge, he will always ask if its being saved or if he can have it. I also ask him the same when he cooks.

billy1966 · 03/12/2022 19:26

Why on earth are you seeing this selfish pig 4 or 5 times a year?

MysteryBelle · 03/12/2022 19:34

He sounds very childish demanding another cake when there’s only enough for everyone. Although they must have been delicious for him to turn up his nose at all the other treats you had available.

PortiasBiscuit · 03/12/2022 18:58

He can’t eat his cake and have it!

So let's get this straight. Because he's a man and needs bigger portions he should have 2 cakes and OP none?

Because that's what he wanted to happen, and you agree with him?

stuntbubbles · 03/12/2022 19:43

healthadvice123 · 03/12/2022 19:15

@stuntbubbles and my answer wasn't to the OP it was to another who implied fill stop men don't need to eat more

And my answer was to you. Funny how a discussion forum works, eh?

LavenderfortheBees · 03/12/2022 20:05

I sent him a parcel of stuff addressed to someone else so it looked like it was an accident - all Japanese sweets and crisps - he absolutely DELIGHTED in the thought he'd got someone elses parcel and could eat all of it and they'd never know and he'd never be found out. Like a pig in shit for days he was and as a result MUCH nicer to everyone around him.

😂Brilliant!

healthadvice123 · 03/12/2022 20:08

@stuntbubbles but you didn't read what i was replying to which was not about the cakes ? So you jumped on me about something without actually reading all through
Surely you read all the posts before commenting ?

healthadvice123 · 03/12/2022 20:09

@BMW6 where did i say that ? Absolutely no where maybe read all the thread and who I was replying too
Nothing to do with the cakes I clearly said he was being unreasonable there , again if you read through you might see

healthadvice123 · 03/12/2022 20:10

@user1471465329 and men need 2500 so 2500 minus 2000 is 500 , not the 200 you quoted

healthadvice123 · 03/12/2022 20:13

Again before jumping on people maybe read the whole thread so you can see what answers are actually in response to
I clearly said he OP was not being unreasonable as her uncle had had his share of cakes as chose to eat it
In reaponse to
Another poster who mentioned penis size portions in general for men I commented that yes men do need more calories than women , in general.
Not that he needed two cakes to make up his defecit
Hope that explains

Oh dearie me.

TomTraubertsBlues · 03/12/2022 21:14

Calories are fucking irrelevant! Cakes are not about need, or nutrition, they are treats FFS! And treats are shared fairly.

If he hasn't had enough calories to meet his nutritional needs for the day he can have a fucking apple.

LolaSmiles · 03/12/2022 21:52

They don’t need 2x £7.95 cakes while the OP has zero £7.95 cakes, though. That’s not a male calorie thing: that’s a male entitlement thing.
Exactly this ^^
There were other options. He chose to be rude by greeding after his long before yhe OP hosting was planning to serve them, and then expected more.

He probably does it in the hope people will indulge him for an easy life but he's a plain old rude and greedy man

piedbeauty · 03/12/2022 22:00

Does he ever cater for you, op? Or do you always cook for him?

If he caters, is he the same then? Just interested!

Good time to do it again actually, can't do it too often or he will suss ( a bit, he's not really aware of Amazon and certainly not aware that boxes of foreign treats is a thing). Might do Polish treats this time.

Longleggedgiraffe · 03/12/2022 22:56

I personally wouldn't dream of putting anything out for guest on a only one and that's it basis and then expect thrm to not have it for tea. Either put the special cakes out for one meal and don't produce them again, or don't produce them at all.
