To fart in front of DH?

So been together for 5 years, and we are now completely comfortable with each other, this includes bodily functions. I thought this was normal… But talking to a friend and she has never heard her partner break wind their entire relationship (3 years) and so she doesn’t either… I can only imagine they must be sitting together with sore tummys waiting for the other to leave the room for a discreet moment 🤣

So am I being unreasonable? Is there such thing as being too comfortable in a relationship?

Dh and I married 15 years. I wouldn't fart in front of him. I would get up and go into another room. Of course there's been a few times when one has accidentally slipped out. My SIL will openly fart in front of me, her dh and her ddad. Turns me!

KimberleyClark · 03/12/2022 12:12

When my now DH of 32 years and I were dating, one time he’d cooked me a meal at his place. He put his arms around me from behind and I accidentally let a long loud one go. He made a big pantomime of being blown across the room by it. And a comment that he’d better not cook me that particular meal again.

Georgeskitchen · 03/12/2022 12:44

I have a friend who in 10 years of marriage never let one rip in front of her hubby . They are divorced now and when she finally let out all the gas, she blew herself into next doors garden 🤣🤣🤣

I dunno, Every so often is ok but I think generally if you can leave a room to fart and not do it in front of your partner then you should. It’s just respect. And about keeping the sexual spark alive.

On our 2nd date with the love of my life.
I had bought new clothes hair make up, nails, the lot and feeling great.
We got out the car and walked over to the restaurant over some stony ground. My heel got caught, turned my ankle and as I stumbled, I let out the loudest fart that sounded like Donald Duck playing a trumpet.!!
I was mortified and froze daren't look at him. I heard a snort behind me, turned and saw he was hanging onto a lampost laughing with tears streaming down his face. I knew he was a keeper 😂😁

I can't stop laughing 😂😂😂😂😂

But to be really graphic about this (and apologies), if you live with someone and share a toilet with them you are sometimes going to be able to smell one another’s shit… that’s just unavoidable.

I get that constant “comedy” farts are disgusting and draining but why should someone farting kill the sexual spark when you have smelled someone’s poo on a regular basis? There’s no logic to that position

I have to agree, after I read this thread last night, I thought about how often I fart, I couldn't recall any yesterday or the day before. And I've been wfh alone so no need to hold it in!

Do some humans not fart??? 🤨😂

I wonder how those who don’t fart in front of their DH cope when staying in hotels. Do they go outside to the car park to fart?

Maybe they go out into the hotel corridor to let them out 🤣

dont around my.husband of 26 years amd he doesn't me as he knows I dislike it.

im agog at this statement, I mean no one likes someone else’s farts, but it’s a normal bodily function. 26 years of the pair of you leaving the room to fart . Where do you go to fart then, does it need to be the loo or will any other room do? Do you take it in turns, what happens if you need to fart at rhe same time, so you both go to a separate room each, stand there, fart and then come back to the original room? Or is one person allowed to fart in that room if the other has left to briefly fart elsewhere

Some evenings the pair of you must be constantly up and down and going to the designated farting room,😂

I'll never forget the time my DH sat on the floor and let off a great big fart. It vibrated through the floor. I bet the people below heard it 🙈😂

Plenty on here seem to find it funny / hilarious to fart so don’t agree that “no one likes it” I’ve seen couples say they do farting competitions 🤢

DemBonesDemBones · 03/12/2022 18:02

13 years here and he's heard me fart twice, both times in labour 😆

Bearthepooh · 03/12/2022 18:08

My dp actually farted whilst I was reading this. We'd only been together about a month when he first heard each other.

We don't trumpet in front of each other. I know it's a normal bodily function but it's an unpleasant one isn't it. I don't think it means we aren't close, I think it's probably good mannered not to keep trumping in front of others.
I think I'm still traumatised as growing up my mum and dad used to throw trumps at us, yes that's right.... they trumped into their hands and threw them. It worked surprisingly well. They also used to trump in a room as they walked out and shut the door so we were trapped. They found it hilarious but that's quite enough trumps for me! Blush

Three years?

So likely thinking about marriage, kids, etc.

If you can't fart in front of someone you can't marry them. Lord above tell the lad about mucus plugs and what sometimes comes out (has to come out) before the baby.

This

Its not about being comfortable imo its about self respect. It seems anything goes these days. I have never and would never do this.

I completely agree.
I assume all these happy free farmers also do so in front of people at work, in a restaurant, on public transport etc?
I certainly wouldn’t use the toilet in front of DH either.

We’ve been married for 28 years and I’ve never heard my husband fart … ever.

He can’t say the same 😂

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 03/12/2022 19:29

Married 23 years, I've heard my DH fart a handful of times and he has always been mortified. When we stay in a hotel he will use the men's toilets.

On the other hand, he hears me most days!

No I wouldn’t at work or with friends or even most family. Only close family and DH… So I guess in a way it’s a sign of trust and intimacy

DH should take my farts as a compliment , he’s one of the privileged few that get to hear them 🤣

Never gonna do it deliberately in front of anyone but if it happens in my sleep, I don't care as much anymore.

You assume wrong. I am very picky about who I will fart in front of. It is an honour accorded to only my closest family in my own home.

MadameMackenzie · 03/12/2022 20:58

@Leemoe Farting cadavers? 😵 Ok that made me freeze in shock! Does this really happen?!?! Presumably only for a short period of time after?

x2boys · 03/12/2022 21:00

I have been with my dh For 17 years I had two horrendous Labour's with all kinds of intervention,a little fart is nothing
