To think this was a bit cheeky of friend

I met up with a friend for lunch, she's got a baby girl who's a few months old who is so lovely. The baby was mainly sleeping in her pram whilst we ate but started getting a bit restless so my friend took her out. I was eating my sandwich and then at some point my friend literally just gave me her baby without asking and said, 'Here you go, you can hold her now." Whilst I was still eating.
I love holding her and I would be more than happy to take her whilst my friend also ate, it's just that she didn't even ask and just literally thrust her into my arms.

How often do you think she gets to eat uninterrupted?? Are you actually her friend?? Seriously…..

How often do you think she gets to eat uninterrupted? Probably hardly ever, right now, and that must be difficult. But that's parenting, which the OP's friend actively opted into. It's nice if her friends will help out by holding the baby, but I don't like the friend's automatic assumption that she will, it's presumptuous.

@FestiveFruitloop I think it's a one off is it not? Your going on like it's a weekly thing. Tbh you and OP sound like shi.... friends

I am confident that I am not a shit friend, but thanks for your interest.

TBH plonking your baby into someone's arms without asking if they mind isn't exactly stellar friend behaviour in my book. I'm probably a bit older than some of the pps on this thread, but none of my friends felt the need to do this when their DC were babies.

Also meant to say: whether or not it was a one-off is irrelevant imho. She should have asked the OP if she minded.

I think it’s nice as it shows she is really relaxed around you. I think I’d even go so far as to actually be pleased if a friend with a baby was like this around me, would make me feel like we are family.

If you were both eating then use it is a bit cheeky. I wouldn't have done it. I'm used to eating one handed though and I eat quickly. If I'm out with my mum or my best friend they'll usually grab baby so I can eat first and have done in the past, less so with dd2 who is a real cling on.
