Firstly, I am Jewish, no connection to Israel, I'm not Israeli (not that I need to qualify my post with that) and have lived in the UK all my life.

So, after his recent rantings about loving Hitler, Nazis and the holocaust (torontosun.com/entertainment/celebrity/i-like-hitler-kanye-west-doubles-down-on-hate-speech-on-alex-jones-infowars-show)

I'm feeling very scared and scared for my kids, especially reading recent threads like this:

Kanye is very influential and popular with the younger generation and my Jewish children are already getting more racist comments said to their faces without any fear of retribution. I am genuinely scared for their physical safety. Jews shouldn't have to live in fear, its 2022 ffs not the 1930s!

Kanye is a demented fecking moron. Only the lowest forms of life would think that what he is saying has merit. FWIW, I don't think many kids listen to Kanye. My 20 year old DD thinks he's a muppe, I know him best as some posturing twunt who walked into a road sign and then tried to blame it on the photographers.

There is a complicated relationship with black Americans and the Jewish community. It ain’t pretty.

I feel sympathy more than anything. He’s completely unhinged and needs help, serious psychological help. While I don’t believe he’s in control of his own thoughts nor the words he speaks (therefore isn’t culpable), he’s dangerous in that there are simple folk who actually give credence to what he has to say. It would be great if everyone just gave an eye roll to another ludicrous comment from him, but that sadly isn’t the case.

He’s being taken advantage of too by the like of Piers Morgan and co. who get him on their show knowing he’s going to be outrageous and thus generate views. The likes of Terry Wogan used to do with this with alcoholics such as George Best and Oliver Reed, get them bladdered in the green room and then let the fireworks commence when they come on to do the interview.

Kanye West is clearly in terrible mental health. Unfortunately, someone with the money he already has cannot be forced to get help.

He made accusations about the exploitation of musicians and promptly lost major contracts worth, apparently billions of dollars.

Those with an antisemitic agenda do not need to see West as an ally. I suspect that they see the economic loss following his outbursts to be a win-win, proving their point and cutting a black billionaire down to size.

Tragically, I don't see anyone; politician, religious leader, broadcaster, writer, etc with enough public trust to address the position. It's a mess.

I think Kanye has some mental health issues going on (not that this excuses racism!) … But my point is hopefully people will know to take what he’s saying with a pinch of salt…. Also I don’t think he’s as popular as he once was, so probably not too influential.

However I’m sorry you and your children are experiencing racism… I just don’t understand why people do it. Why does it matter what heritage people are from or what religion they choose to practice. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and children deserve to grow up without having to experience bullying and racism.

Where I live seems quite multicultural, and I haven’t seen racist behaviour first hand personally (I know people say I’m white so how would I know, but if I would have overheard racist comments I’m pretty sure it would stick in my mind, I hate bullying in all its forms).

Boris Johnson made islamophobic comments in the past but the country had no issues supporting him. In fact, Islamophobic attacks rose within the UK - can I attribute that purely to Boris? Probably not, but I can point out of the lack of consistency in the concern being shared in this thread.

This thread is specifically about anti-semitism. Not Islamophobia. The topic is anti-semitism. And considering Jewish schools need security guards outside their schools and Islamic schools don't, yes I consider it a serious problem.

I have no problem at all with Muslims, you are gaslighting me. I'm simply saying the topic of this thread is violence against Jews, and you are minimising that violence by bringing other races into it. You obviously have an agenda here.

I don't need to defend myself against baseless aspersions. You can't even quote an antisemitic statement I've made, and I haven't made any attempts to deny /diminish the reality of antisemitism.

Kanye West is immature and impulsive. He lack the intelligence to articulate and filter all the BS he’s being fed by very dangerous corners of society. In addition to his antisemitism there was his “Slavery was a choice” and “White lives matter” BS. Couple that with his poor mh management and you have a very sad and troubled individual. People don’t look up to Kanye, I think just like in the past, people like to point the finger at certain groups to explain away economic uncertainty.

Racism and antisemitism sadly, aren’t going anywhere.

Many islamic schools do, seeing one without security doesn’t mean none have any, I’ve seen Jewish schools without security, but you know, I’m aware seeing one doesn’t mean I’ve seen alll.
