Firstly, I am Jewish, no connection to Israel, I'm not Israeli (not that I need to qualify my post with that) and have lived in the UK all my life.

I'm feeling very scared and scared for my kids, especially reading recent threads like this:

Kanye is very influential and popular with the younger generation and my Jewish children are already getting more racist comments said to their faces without any fear of retribution. I am genuinely scared for their physical safety. Jews shouldn't have to live in fear, its 2022 ffs not the 1930s!

I don't think we can really tell why posters don't contribute to a particular thread. Most people don't spend their entire day on MN, and will read or respond to whatever catches their eye.

Lots of artists have produced amazing work over the years despite being absolute arseholes, it’s important to try to separate the art from artist. Ted Hughes was a twat but incredible poet for example, I don’t not read his poetry because he was a prick.

I don’t think Kanye has the same fan base he once did. I listen to his music still because I’ve always liked it, I don’t like or agree with him though and my Dad and his family are Jewish as a disclaimer. I don’t think he’s super popular with young people anymore, they mostly think he’s a joke. He may be a good mouthpiece for far right nutjobs but that’s as far as his influence will go imo.
