Things in RECENT times you can’t quite believe we’re seen as ‘ok’

The Jeremy Kyle Show. Middle class man shouts at poor people who aren’t terribly bright, for not being perfect humans. So pleased it ended.

On X Factor and BGT when they used to show ‘funny’ auditions of people who believed they had talent but really didn’t so got laughed at. They then brought them back for the final to do a humiliating routine live so they could be laughed at more.

Supernanny. Childless woman who can barely speak properly pulls lemon faces, tells parents they’re shit and Instills sudden and sharp changes in the child’s home where actual camera are focussing on them when they’re distraught and upset

Sun sea and suspicious parents. Mum and dad spying on their adult children from a rooftop in Greece whilst said child gets off with a stranger. CREEPY!

That you used to be able to go in the cockpit mid flight to chat to the pilots. I remember the year 9/11 happened I’d gone on holiday with my Dad and step-mum and my dad asked the cabin crew if he could take me into the cockpit as a birthday treat. Pilots agreed and we sat in there whilst my Dad talked the ears off the pilots about his love of planes whilst I stared at the buttons.

I’ve been in the cockpit plenty of times since then when I was cabin crew, but it’s just so surreal to me that some random bloke and his 5yo were allowed to just go into the cockpit for a nose and a chat.

Nothing wrong with drag acts or blackface. Everything wrong with PC pompous prats! We should turn the clock back culturally to the 1970s.

twerking and ‘modern day’ dance moves in secondary school performance with girls in crop tops and some in very short shorts - older teenage pupils.
lots of men in the audience.

why not have a dress code that preserves modesty and dignity?

Lot's of men in the audience? Well it's on the men not to sexualise the children on stage. Not the children on stage. The children can't help what these men think. What about boys who go topless and wearing shorts. Would you say the same about them?

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 01/12/2022 22:41

What do you mean by "recent"?

In my head I was thinking 10-15 years maybe 20 tops but some people are practically going back to the 19th century 🤣 but everyone’s perception of recent is different, mine isn’t necessarily right

You’re so right. When homosexuality was rife, gay people couldn’t marry, men could legally rape their wives and you could get sacked for being pregnant.

The good old days

I agree with you: it's not a woman's job to police men's reaction. But, I find seeing the teenage girls I teach showing their underwear and parts of their genitals when they sit down/ climb the stairs really, really upsetting. Society has told them it's okay to sexualise everything, even their school uniform. Sex is fabulous, being sexy is fabulous, but not when you're 13 in school.

Smart motorways. WTH!! Seen as 'ok' by highways England, not by the general public or anyone with a brain cell.

What does Jo Frost’s lack of children have to do with anything? It doesn’t make her any less qualified a nanny.

Agree. I like Jo Frost and her accent is just due to where she is from. She can't help that. Tbf many of the parents she deals with are completely clueless on parenting, relationships and life.

I went in the cockpit as a child to have a nosy with my dad and sister. The cabin crew asked us if we wanted a look.

Removing babies at birth from first time mothers on the basis that they may, hypothetically, at some point during the course of said child's life - cause them "emotional harm"

LaDamaDeElche · 01/12/2022 23:24

Covid restrictions

LaDamaDeElche · 01/12/2022 23:30

The definition of recent means in the very near past. That's like this year or last year max ago, not 10 years ago. That would be the recent past.

Yep, let's smoke in restaurants and smack our kids and not bother much with seatbelts!

PinkFrogss · 01/12/2022 23:46

The refugees dying crossing the channel etc. We’ll look at Britains mismanagement of asylum seeker cases as we now look at how Britain should have taken more Jewish refugees from Europe.

Also the imbalance in parliament with the domination of Eton and Oxbridge.

House prices, the number of private rentals, and the lack of tenants rights.

How low benefits are, and in general the PIP process

What sort of thing do you mean? I've not heard of that.

I was with you till Supernanny…I’ve got three of my own kids…three grandkids….I’m a general and paediatric nurse….and she is excellent. Doctors the world over who are men, have managed to deliver babies with no experience of doing so themselves. Marie Curie nurses help cancer patients, most never had cancer themselves. Same with rehab officers and people with sight loss. You don’t need to have your own kids….you need to have trained to be a nanny….how many parents do you know who have any training in bringing up kids before they become parents?

You do know that Jo Frost has absolutely no recognised childcare qualifications don't you! As a fully qualified NNEB with over 30 years childcare experience (in nurseries, schools, children's wards and nannying) I can tell you that her attitude, techniques and language are more than questionable. And anyone who's is qualified would (or should) say exactly the same!

Blinky21 · 02/12/2022 00:03

That Supersize, Superskinny show where they got an obese person and an underweight person, who both clearly suffered from eating disorders, and made them swap diets for a week under the guise that it was some sort of legitimate therapy

Blinky21 · 02/12/2022 00:04

Also fox hunting

Dontaskdontget · 01/12/2022 22:16

Well it does a bit because she has no idea what it feels like to be a parent…

Nanny isn’t a ‘how many exams have you passed’ type job 🙄

But that's the point, not only does she not have children (which isn't the end of of the world), but she also has zero training and NO recognised childcare qualifications! (Which is a massive issue when she's wheeled out as a childcare 'expert', and parents hang on her every word as they are lead to believe she has a clue what she's talking about...which she doesn't).

Convicted terrorists released from prison under the Good Friday Agreement. And then elected to run the country. Still blows my mind.

dropthevipers · 02/12/2022 01:18

Mr.s browns boys.how the he'll did that happen?

nalabae · 02/12/2022 01:51

People choose to go on Jeremy Kyle for a free meal and hotel.
people choose to go on xfactor for 15mins of fame:
people choose to go to childless super nanny (I agree women without children should not be telling you anything)

nobody holds a gun to anyones head to go on these shows:
they choose to then play victim these are GROWN ADULTS NOT UNDER 20s

TrishM80 · 02/12/2022 02:06

British people being hoodwinked by the right wing press and political con artists that the EU was the source of all their problems and Brexit would magically solve everything.

Rhaenys · 02/12/2022 02:12

I had forgotten that you used to be able to buy fags at 16! 😳
