I recall vividly in the early 70s a colleague daring to come to school in trousers, in the Staffroom the Head made some halfhearted comment about dress standards and she started to unbutton them, saying OK, I'll not wear them! • my year 5 teacher was a sex offender and everyone knew about him and yet nothing was done. I'm currently reading a Marian Keyes book written maybe about 20 years ago, and some of the statements about lesbians are a bit eyebrow-raising. Not homophobic, just quite 'othering' in a way I don't think would pass muster today.
